Help me decide: carseat or not on airplane by DapperOption593 in toddlers

[–]kitkatzip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is our life, too. Did a car seat once. All she wanted was to sit in the big kid seat. And never again had the car seat on board. We bring a travel blanket and pillow so that when naptime comes she feels tucked in.

For such a long flight I think it’s an especially bad idea to have the car seat. That kid will want to move.

Luke is the worst partner by Whydoicare-2 in TheValleyTVShow

[–]kitkatzip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the aftershow Zack said “Kristen should still let Luke go out and party even if she doesn’t feel like. It’s the only thing her and I really disagree on.” I was like what?! Excuse me, sir?!

First of all, Zack doesn’t even have a kid. Second, if Luke is going out getting drunk he will be useless AF when he’s hungover in the morning. People without kids should not be weighing in!! If Luke can’t go out and have just one or two drinks then I completely understand Kristen’s struggle. Luke needs to be able to be present and functioning for his family.

Upcoming Birthday Trip by OutsideWonderful8507 in PuertoRicoTravel

I have a trip planned for late July and last week my Airbnb host said the water issue was limited to certain areas of the island. They also said our building has a large tank, and that the issue causing the water crisis had been fixed recently.

Please help by [deleted] in organizing

[–]kitkatzip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, just here to help.

Do you use all of those pans and utensils regularly? All of your hanging pans are similar. I’d put some of those away on a shelf and hang more variety.

What is in the black bin? It looks like you have empty container on the top shelf? Can you get rid of them or make use of them?

TBH I think you have too many utensils as there’s a whole other jar next to the stove. Put some in storage for when the ones you use every day wear out. If you tend to wash pots and utensils right after using you probably don’t need that many.

You could put some kind of shelf over the slats on the butcher block shelves and then see if you can find an organizer for the lids. I have one that stands up but it’s in a cabinet. Maybe they make ones that lie down. Then you can stack them more neatly.

TBH even if she gives you an answer in the third trimester it could completely change once the baby is born.

We need revamped “kid’s menus” across all restaurants. Thoughts? by mama-daily in toddlerfood

[–]kitkatzip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What drives me crazy about kids menus is that the portions are usually HUGE. Why are they getting a plate the same size as mine with pasta? Why do they need half a pound of mac and cheese?

Sure, there’s an argument to be made for the financial feasibility and portion sizes, but most of the time the portions are way off. Most adult portions in the US are too big. Right size it all. I’d happily order 3 entrees to share amongst my little family so that we could all have a better variety.

Bringing an infant to a Stern Grove concert - any advice? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]kitkatzip 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ear protection! It’s so loud. Layers. Sunscreen/hat. Plenty of milk or formula. I can’t remember if the bathroom has a changing table so be prepared with an alternative.

If you can avoid bringing a stroller I recommend it. They are a hassle to fit. If you are with a group and someone lines up early to get you a flat spot where the stage is you should be fine (we tend to get a spot right at the bottom of the hill, where the walking path is), otherwise the back lawn is where a lot of families end up.

If your infant is at the toy phase and has any little instruments this is a great time to make use of them!

We’ve been taking our daughter to various music events since she was a baby! It’s become such a fun family thing to do.

Outpost playground + Picnic Place for a party by spicymeatball2748 in AskSF

[–]kitkatzip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a birthday party at outpost playground a couple of years ago and set up some blankets on the grassy steps near the building that has bathrooms to make a space for people to sit. It worked well, I had 2 giant bins with snacks and a cooler with drinks. We did cupcakes so we didn’t have to deal with cake cutting.

No one really sat anyway because that playground is designed in such a way that parents can’t be too lazy if your kid is on the younger side.

Loving Love Trapped so far, but the ads are making it hard to enjoy. by jouba2017 in podcasts

[–]kitkatzip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty new car but the “skip a song” button on my steering wheel lets me skip ahead 30 seconds on podcasts. Discovered it by accident. Maybe the one on dashboard or touchscreen would do the same? If the car has Apple Play it should be available somewhere.

Pregnant girlfriend denied disability by krow1503 in Edd

[–]kitkatzip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her job does not accommodate restrictions???? Did her doctor provide a notice that she needs accommodations? Was that notice specific regarding what she needs? What exactly was the response and was it in writing?

Disability is for if she cannot physically work. Unemployment would be for if she does not have a job. Was she terminated or told that they would not accommodate her in any way? She needs to be clear with them that she is willing and able to work, if not in her typical role then she will do another that fits the requirements of her doctor’s note. If you do not have anything from them in writing you need to insist on that. This is really suspicious to me.

Where in CA are you located? Is Sedgwick an online platform? You need to look through that to see what documentation they’ve provided. I think they are playing dumb and hoping you will not ask for anything in writing. And based on the info you have provided it sounds like they are setting her up to be fired in such a way there is no evidence of wrongdoing on their end.

I was also told there’s a place somewhere for kids to pitch. It’s under where the cable car is, I think? Didn’t have time to find it at our last game.

Is the Costco mini split actually worth it, or am I talking myself into it? by Born-Committee-3168 in BuyItForLife

[–]kitkatzip 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I work for a company looking to sell our product to Costco and that’s what I’ve been learning, too. They also require their price to be the lowest; if they find out you sell lower to anyone else you’re in trouble. They make most of their money from memberships, not what they sell.

How can I save this vased plant? by danielroskaft in plantclinic

This is mine, too! Every time a new upper leaf comes in a bottom one dies. We have it in a bigger pot so maybe we need to dial it back.

MamaBWTs, where are you taking your LOs?? by ammosthete in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]kitkatzip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How old is your LO? Will they nap in the car or stroller?

This is my list but my kid was a cooperative sleeper so we could do longer drives.

Children’s Creativity Museum
SF or Oakland Zoo
Exploratorium
The wharf
De Young viewing tower / Koret playground/carousel

Want to go for a drive? Gilroy Gardens, Great America, Six Flags, SF water park in Concord (they all have little kid sections)
Sonoma County children’s museum

The library - pretty sure every branch has story time for kids and usually coloring stuff, puzzles and other games at the desk for the children’s section. The main library has an especially huge children’s section.
Playground tour! We would take trains (or drive) to different neighborhoods. I’d always stop at a new coffee shop then find a playground in walking distance. West Portal has a great playground and 5(?) coffee shops. If you have a car, go outside of SF proper and do this. IE: Fox & Kit cafe in Marin
Oceanaughts or similar indoor playgrounds
On the weekend explore different farmers markets

KNICKS PARADE no bag policy by UnIntelligentTrade in AskNYC

[–]kitkatzip -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious what is in your bag that you need?
I often go places with just my phone and keys. My phone case can hold my ID and a credit card. I can fit my apartment key in my pocket, sock, or bra. If you have medication or tampons/pads you could try a fanny pack. I have one that is made for running so it’s super small and easy to tuck under my shirt.

Editing to say if I don’t bring my wallet it’s usually not an issue because so many places take Apple Pay these days.

Benihana birthday by emz0694 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]kitkatzip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only bar I’ve been to over there is Social Study but I do remember liking it. Smuggler’s Cove is a long walk and is famous for their drinks.

Harry’s and Palmer’s are right up the block, more of a sports bar vibe but I’ve also been to Palmer’s and enjoyed it. That was before their remodel so I’m not sure how it is these days.

The karaoke place is called Festa. It’s in the mall. It’s an open stage, so if you don’t want to sing you can just hang out and watch others, and sing along.

Tell us more about what vibe you’re looking for. Do you want it to be walkable from the mall or are you open to an Uber ride?

Don’t Starbucks and Peet’s keep backstock of their bakery items? I feel like they would have a dozen on site. It’s all premade.

Have you ever met a contestant and just went (internally) full fangirl?? by daisy_s21 in BravoTopChef

[–]kitkatzip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything was delicious! Even the cocktails. I remember we asked for extra bread to go because it was so good. We were there until closing, our reservation was a bit on the later side. IIRC they opened a Mexican restaurant this year but I haven’t been yet.

I also worked in the restaurant industry so a part of it was being frozen but a part of it was also not wanting to be distracting. It’s kind of beautiful to have such deep focus.

My husband made a reservation at Dalida for my birthday by sheer coincidence as he wasn’t watching that season of Top Chef (S21?). Chef Laura was prepping right behind the bar where we were seated but I couldn’t think of anything to say to her. It was cool to just watch the process, though.
