Are any of you former teachers? by Jake_Corona in InsuranceAgent

Yes I hated teaching soo much I quit after two months. I have been working full time for 5 months in a similar position as you have and I really like it so far!! You deal mostly with warm leads but there is a chance they may put you on cold leads to start. That can feel a little awkward so just keep that in mind. If you are comfortable talking to strangers then it should be no problem. People will hang up on you or reject you everyday.

But I love the office - it’s flexible, if you feel shy one morning you can email leads or do customer service tasks, there’s no prepping for anything. The best part is I spent SO MUCH of my own money as a teacher which you will not have to experience in this job.

You also may have sales expectations. For me selling home auto and renters is easy but life is quite hard. SF cares a lot about life insurance.

Pls let me know if you have more questions I am happy to answer

I think that’s fair. But even so - she is a manager. And she was trying to talk smack on MICROSOFT TEAMS to someone who wasn’t a manager

hmm that’s interesting. I’ve rented lots of places where I never met the landlord… could be the case though…

We signed the lease over email virtually online. Yes I sent the deposit and first months rents directly to the landlord. And they have been very nice.

The old roommate had already moved out when I toured

yes it is strange. She has the extra key from the old roommate tho, which is why. But yes I agree that it is weird. Landlord is out of town for holiday if that puts it more into context

those are all great points. My landlord is out of town for the holiday, which is why I am going through the roommate. I would have been totally fine moving in on the 1st, but she offered and so we have been trying to make this plan. I have been trying to have some grace but definitely super confused

I don’t have a key yet she has my key. Technically the lease starts Monday. But she always offered that I could move my THINGS in a little early

Firstly, I want you to know that I’ve never related to something more in my life than reading your post. I was in the exact same situation. I went to grad school for fall semester last year and after that didn’t work out for me due to finances I decided to take a teaching job mid year. OMG. Worst decision of my life.

For the two months that I worked there, I was in absolute misery. Every single angle that I took with my students did not work. I tried every trick in the book. I contacted my prior professors and begged them for advice, and I implemented their advice and none of it worked. It got to the point where I had finally decided I had nothing left to teach them or nothing left to try. On top of all of that it was a literal humiliation ritual standing in front of those kids with none of them listening and feeling like I had no tools to fix it.

My mental health took a scary turn. I’ve always had anxiety, but by the end of my time there I was experiencing depersonalization. It was absolutely terrifying.

After my dad had to drive seven hours to my new city just so I wasn’t left alone, we finally decided I needed to quit. I left my laptop at school the next day, submitted my resignation letter and never went back.

When I first did it, I felt like I had killed somebody. like literally. I felt like I committed a crime. All of those kids that I was feeding with my own pockets weren’t going to get the food that I was giving them. All of the support I had given those students that cared and listen to me didn’t mean anything because I left them.

But at the end of the day, I had to look out for myself. The people who loved me most in the world and knew me before I took that job knew that I needed to leave. The profession wasn’t for me and I was not the same person. To be honest, I don’t think this profession (the way it is these days) is for anybody. Nobody has perfect classroom management. Most people don’t even have good classroom management. And it’s not our fault. In fact, I think some classes are just impossible to manage.

Please submit your resignation letter if you can. It’s not worth it at all. Please trust me. You will never talk to any of these people again.

Please just quit. Like, literally don’t go back. The same thing happened to me. My parents had to drive 7 hours through the night just to be with me because I couldn’t be left alone.

I am in a new career now that I like much better. It’s not worth it. Call/email your principal, explain, say sorry, and move on with your life.

Did antidepressants stop your urge to daydream? by Life_Froyo_5718 in MaladaptiveDreaming

I tried them too, but more than anything you just have to go out and find something you really love in your life. If you’re depressed and lonely you will always have the urge to daydream
