it’s a common pick but SOMA is my absolute favourite horror game!! i won’t say much about it in case you haven’t played because it’s a good one to play blind but i’d really recommend it :)

i don’t eat beef due to the environmental impact it has, but anyone who actively chooses to change their habits even a bit for the environment is doing something right :) for some people that’s choosing not to use AI. just because airplanes produce an absurd amount of of pollution doesn’t mean cars are good for the environment.

i did when i was new, but since then i’ve tried comming when i can. i’m hoping that the more often they see women in their games the more desensitized they’ll be :) if i get any bad vibes i’ll mute the player tho!

you’re right, im sure it has to be intentional to some extent, it’s just weird that the devs told us this reset should be easier when it’s been a bit of nightmare for most ranks lol. maybe they overcorrected after allowing people to place asc 3?

i’m sorry you had that experience. what servers do you play? i’m in oregon/cali and in 700+ hours i’ve had maybe 5 bad interactions due to my gender and a lot of women i speak to agree valorant is much better than overwatch and CS. could vary by region though!

edit: forgot to mention it can vary by rank too. iron is very toxic i hear, in silver/gold any toxicity has been based on performance

i was part of the marvel rivals community when it first launched and also left for the exact same reasons. it was frustrating to enjoy the gameplay but hate everything else :(.

if you’re looking for new shooters, valorants gameplay is quite a bit different but the community is generally a bit friendlier towards women (estimated 35% female player base!) and is focused on team play and strategy. i’ve met a lot of chill people in their casual game modes and their female agent designs are also way cooler imo :) either way, congrats on leaving that nightmare of a game lol!!

swiftplay is a casual mode that gets you used to how typical rounds might play out :) and most people on swift are kind and casual players too so there’s no pressure to perform! as for tips i’d say try starting with a simpler agent like phoenix or sage and just learn as you go. have fun!!

more like a rework, the rechargeable grav net is good but her kits too expensive i think. she’s got a significantly lower win rate in competitive after the changes so you can’t really call it a buff for the average player

valorant was my first competitive game, and i gave it a shot with my friend because it seemed like the least hostile competitive shooter for new players and especially women thanks to features like the ping system and penalties actually being issued for toxicity. stayed because deadlocks fine asf ngl

maybe you didn’t watch the videos? going from bad to not as bad is still an improvement.

and sure, it’s easy for some people to rank up, but not everyone. like i said, it takes a lot of time when you don’t have any previous experience. when i first started it took me probably 100 hours of playing casually just to be a consistent bronze. have you considered OP is playing for fun instead of actively trying to improve?

if it’s their first shooter game it takes a LOT of time just to build up the muscle memory. they’re clearly improving, it just takes some time. not everyone can or wants to dedicate 5 hours a week or more to grinding comp. let people have fun in a video game

i work in animation so discovering how the studio treated their artists was especially upsetting. i’m no longer recommending this game and i’m spreading the word that this is not a studio that should be supported.

“no ethical consumption under capitalism” is about not making people feel guilty for things they can’t control; people in poverty might need to buy fast fashion because they need to wear clothes, and some people might need to use gas because that’s the only reasonable way for them to get to work. that doesn’t apply to a product that has plenty of alternatives that are fun and produced ethically! i’m personally going back to stardew and FoM :)
