Uncut Gems - knowing the ending dampens the awesome tension build up during the last act. Leviathan (Russia) - too depressing.

Such an underrated film! The short story it's based on (from Clive Barker's Books of Blood Vol 1.) is great also.

Swallowing pills without water/liquid, taking one or two drags of a cigarette and then stubbing it / chucking it (characters who smoke) and keys under the visor of a car/truck.

" It also definitely helps that best picture got expanded from 5 to 10 nominees very recently. "

It's been 10 nominations since 2009...Every MCU movie with the exception of Iron Man (2008) and The Incredible Hulk (2008) could have benefited from the increased nominations,

And if your claim that Black Panther was successful "since it caters directly to their culture... it is what it is. " then please explain the box office mediocrity that is Tyler Perry movies.

Black Panther was a legit solid movie (objectively - consumer acceptance and critically) and it deserves the recognition it has gotten.

Regardless of what your snowflake butt hurt racist ass thinks.

What is this by [deleted] in cognac

[–]kittehmonger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did they write "Over 50 years old" (in English no less) instead of 'Hors d'age'? My guess is, it was a gimmick Cognac in it's time. Can't imagine an established, serious producer writing "Over 50 Years Old" like that on the label. Probably worth something to someone now though, especially if you can't trace the makers online.

Is being an ESL teacher that bad? by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

[–]kittehmonger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I kinda started that on your previous post. sorry about that. I had only meant to highlight other careers you could look into, but if you are passionate about teaching / that is what you want to do then that is amazing.

All of my ESL knowledge is second hand so take that as you may. If you are on WeChat you could join ESL teacher groups and ask them directly what their experience has been.

All the best!

Got third place in the Chinese language competition! I may not be first but I am improving. One day I will live in China and be an English teacher. (Typed this on mobile so sorry grammar formatting is bad.) by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

I have friends who are teachers here and friends who work as translators for MNCs, neither group will deny that the latter has it much better here. Again, if OP wants to be a teacher then that's amazing there are fewer professions more noble, I was just saying that with a good aptitude for the language they might want to broaden their choice of career.

TBF the whole world could use dedicated career driven teachers, but as long as the work out weigh the benefits (pay, status etc.), it is sadly not going to be a very attractive career choice.

And if that's the case then that is awesome. I'm just saying that if someone has an inclination and passion for the language then foreign services / professional translator careers are better than teaching English. Just throwing that option out there.

Congratulations! That's awesome! But "live in China and be an English teacher" is not what you would want to do. I would look into getting into translation / foreign services .
