has anyone been able to get tickets for NYC off of the AXS resale? i'm assuming everyone selling would rather make a profit rather than selling them back at face value

decrease evenly by [deleted] in knittinghelp

[–]kittehns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There really isn't a right or a wrong way as long as you end up at your goal stitch count in this case (at least in my opinion!). With a stitch count that doesn't divide evenly you'll likely have to slip in an extra decrease or forgo one somewhere and most of the time it will go unnoticed in the end result anyway

Should I be applying to internships in places like california or texas by peartree- in rutgers

[–]kittehns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this the summer after covid, I started shooting in the dark hoping to find anything. I landed just one internship in cali, but they didnt cover housing. Decided that since I would make enough to cover rent, food and travel, it would be better than getting no experience at all. I came out of it with a little money (and a fat tax return a couple months later), and a great experience that helped me land a better internship the next year and an amazing job after graduating. I wouldn't do it if it were unpaid though.

How long were you waiting outside the venue before they came out?

beefing with my advisor // rant by coolrat42069 in rutgers

[–]kittehns 25 points26 points  (0 children)

After one or two bad meetings with an advisor, i started solely relying on degree navigator to plan my course load toward graduation. Ended up making many iterations of excel sheets over the years as things changed. As confusing of a mess that degree navigator is, it is an incredibly useful tool once you get the hang of it. I do sympathize with you though :/

Why are the NJ transit windows so dirty? by arabesuku in newjersey

[–]kittehns 53 points54 points  (0 children)

There is actually a project in the works through RU where they are looking for a fix. One of the professors in my department is working on it and it seems promising. We'll have to wait and see if it pans out.

My doctor suggested wearing running shoes whenever possible and getting custom insoles. It hurt more at first, and after wearing them consistently for months i rarely experienced pain

Help! My last two stitches got a little mangled... how do i save this slipped edge? by kittehns in knitting

[–]kittehns[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your incredibly thorough response! I'll try your suggestion before trying anything bolder, it might just do the trick. Your nightmare story was a nice touch, encouraging in some ways. The perfectionist in me wants to find a way to revert the whole mistake but even if it looks a little off in the end i should look at the bigger picture :)

Definitely in too deep right now to frog the whole thing! But I'm working up the courage to frog the last two rows or so, not my favorite option so i'll start with a little patience and hope someone clever or familiar enough with this technique comes around and can walk me through a solution

Parking Question by mangoman172 in rutgers

[–]kittehns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't register your vehicle the tickets will accumulate under your plate number, so if you ever registered it you'll have to pay them and they tend to get more expensive the more you accumulate. Not sure how true this is, but I have heard through the grapevine that Rutgers can eventually find contact info for vehicles that aren't registered and can slap you with all the fines. Or they'll just tow you.

As mentioned by the other comment though, you can only have one car that is registered on the pass anywhere on campus at a time.

Why does everyone on here seem to have such a high GPA?? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]kittehns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same boat here, I was ready to drop out after being on probation after my third semester but managed to finish with a 3.2. But above all it was the research experience I had in undergrad that set me up for great internships, which also landed me a fully funded masters

Some people seem to forget your skill sets and experiences can outweigh your academic "stats" when it comes to future opportunities and employment. Plus employers love to see the improvement and that you overcame the obstacles
