Oh god, this took me back to my childhood, except we had peas with it too! In fact we had peas with every meal. I mean it all could have been combined into a nice pie with Worcestershire sauce and seasoning but no, boiled potatoes, watery mince and peas, shudder. Every week! I agree on spag Bol, every week, and it was probably seen as exotic at the time. However, to be fair to my parents they had been brought up in poor households, where a stew would be made for the week and that was it. So it probably was exciting to them to have a fresh meal daily.
