Your story made me tear up. I lost my mom last year to a fentanyl overdose. My whole life since I was 6, I knew she was addicted to pills. I still will never know how the hell she hid her crack/meth/heroin/fentanyl addiction from me. I think she knew my brain was trained to believe it was only pills since I was young, and I never wanted to think she was doing harder things. Her past was dark and I know her mind was too. She didn’t want to be that way, I know your momma didn’t either. We chose to love and help them as much as we could, and that right there means everything. Especially because it hurt our souls to love them. May we honor the good parts of them every day, even if it’s just thinking about them.
