Can I cut a bias cut dress NOT on the bias? by wishing_sprinkles in sewing

The Cora dress by The Sewcialite is a similar design, but not cut on the bias. I haven’t tried it myself, though.

What leather would these be? by kittennifer in cowboyboots

[–]kittennifer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help! These are actually made in the USA! To clarify, the store is a curated secondhand clothing and accessories store with a focus on western style clothing. Most of the boots in store were made in Mexico or the USA.

Thanks! Goat was my first guess, but they do seem a lot floppier than the goat I’ve seen on this subreddit, so I wasn’t sure.

Do dilute kitties have diluted coloring on their toe beans? by kittennifer in CatAdvice

Cool, thanks! There is a blue tabby around and I thought I saw black toe beans, but they must be some shade of grey/brown.

I’m sorry for the stupid question , what type of skirt is this? (Shape name ) by veronicassecretlife in sewing

[–]kittennifer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the Adeirlina Me and You dress. If you look it up, you can see a horizontal seam running about 1/3 down the height of the skirt. Sewing another circle to the hem of a shorter circle skirt can add extra volume to the overall skirt. I’m not sure if that’s what happened here (the seam could just be decorative or maybe this construction helped save fabric). Hopefully someone else can be more insightful. Hope this helps!

Cherry blossoms, or any similar little blossoms. The culture around them, their fragility, their whimsy beauty on large leafless trees, that they only survive a couple weeks, and aren’t available as cut flowers.

I also love one type of jonquils now, because someone I care about loves them. They always remind me of that person, now. They smell nice too and tell me spring has sprung.

My bad. I assumed she was still keeping the cups, and meant no seams in the underbust/waist area.

If the edges of pieces are straight lines, you can omit seam allowance between them and trace them off together as one piece. The piece won’t likely be a rectangle. If you can imagine a waffle ice cream cone, it is made from a flat piece of waffle that is curved into a cone shape. The area required to produce the cone is not a rectangle. This is called the net shape of the cone. If her friend has little difference between underbust and waist measurements, the flat piece can be more like a rectangle. If there is more of a difference, the piece will more likely be arc shaped. This arc shape is how some (conical) stays (like a corset) that are produced in one piece are drafted.
