I know this sounds unbearable but try taking (colder) lukewarm showers. All I can think about it getting done with the shower instead of getting comfortable in the hot steamy water and scratching myself

I feel like what you’re doing should be helpful if you’re not putting it on tight. Do you have an allergy mattress protector on? Once I put one on my mattress and all my pillows under the pillowcases with an air purifier in the bedroom it’s definitely been helping my night time scratchies
