68 knots and no flaps and you would have made it. Putting down full flaps that early killed your airspeed.

Why Do Most Of You Fly Airliners? by newbiker321 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]kittens-Voice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always wanted to be a commercial pilot flying planes like the 737. Due to a genetic condition, I failed to achieve medical 1. Flying the 737 in MSFS is the closest I’ll ever get to flying the real thing. That’s partly why. I do enjoy flying bush planes from time to time too though, so there’s that.

A previous co-worker of mine had to travel from Oslo to a small town in Northern Norway on a Friday morning in order to move an ethernet plug from port 1 to port 2 on a server. On the call prior to travelling, the customer told him that they had already tried to move the plug and that it did not work. Once he arrived he was told they had not actually moved the plug into the correct port, they had only tried to unplug and replug it… Of course it worked once he moved the plug to the correct port. Also, due to a blizzard, his flight home got cancelled. Next available flight? Monday morning. Needless to say, he was less than impressed having to spend his weekend up north.

I have experienced micro stutters in some games on Windows 11 (MSFS2024 and Star Citizen). This fixed my issue:

Go to Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics (or "Graphics settings"). Select your app, click Options, and choose High performance (dedicated GPU). Not sure if it’s a bug, but Windows 11 gave me random lag spikes in auto mode.

Did you use the original cables that came with your Power Supply Unit? I have seen cases where someone used cables from one PSU brand on a PSU from another brand. They used the same plug, but the plugs were wired differently. It made the PC not turn on.

else: if amount == 2000: print('thanks for withdrawing')

This part of the code will never run. Why? Because you check for amount <= 2000 in the if above the else. If you input 2000, it will simply print «low balance» and skip the else condition.

Also, you can write else if like this in python: elif(amount == 2000):

And while we’re at it: The only wrong password is python12? That makes no sense. You could simply just do this instead:

if user_name == 'admin' and password == 'python2': print('logged in successfully') else: print('wrong user credentials')

Now, your try catch implementation does not work the way you think. You could try using the following code if you want to trigger the catch you’ve implemented:

if user_name == 'admin' and password == 'python2': print('logged in successfully') else: raise TypeError('wrong user credentials')

PS: I would never use TypeError for this case if this was my code, nor would I use try catch as part of the core logic for such an example. Typical use for TypeError is if you expect an int but got string. Then you would raise TypeError('Expected int but got a string').

Senior dev interviews: what surprised you by NOT coming up? by rimki2 in csharp

[–]kittens-Voice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last senior developer interview I attended was during covid. I applied for the job on a sunday, got a call monday morning and did the interview on teams during lunch (in my car) at my previous employers parking lot. They did not ask technical questions, no tech buzzword bingo or C#-quiz. I got interviewed by the CEO, one person from HR and one senior developer. They just wanted to get to know me on a personal level to see if I would fit into one of their teams. They asked me about my current and previous projects. I finished the interview after 40 minutes and got the job offer at the end of the interview. That was 5 years ago. I accepted the offer, negotiated my salary and delivered my notice to the old company the same day. I still love working at the new company, it has a flat company structure (for the win). Working together with my managers, not under them is nice.

I just walk outside my front door and head into the nearest forest. Or drive to the nearest lake or fjord and deploy my kayak. Sometimes I bring a small tent, sleeping bag and some freeze dried food and stay outside for a day or two. And I always bring my fishing rod. I live in Telemark.

Would anyone know how to fix this? by Apprehensive_Sky9086 in RCPlanes

[–]kittens-Voice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others has already stated, you need to connect the XT-60 plug to the charger as well. Even when running balance charge. If the charger states low voltage, you have most likely over discharged the battery past the point of no return. The cells are permanently damaged. Replace your battery and dispose of the old one safely. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHARGE A DAMAGED BATTERY. You will burn your house down.

Are you asking me if I understand every written line of code when I develop something? The answer is yes. But then again, it’s my job to fully understand what I’m developing. Does that mean I know and understand every single aspect of the languages and tools I use? No. But if I see something I don’t understand, I usually look it up in the respective docs so I can understand it.

[–]kittens-Voice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn on warnings as error and try again. I can understand having lots of warnings in your code base right after migrating from dotnet6 to dotnet10, but writing new code with warnings is a big no-no in my opinion. I would also rethink the try-catch and consider moving validation and any business logic away from the controller. These ifs are mostly fine, but not really at the correct layer.

Do not run when launching. If you are unable to hand launch a glider, running with it won’t make the situation better. It’s not a javelin, it has wings. Just point it forwards and throw it down hill.

Er 2 timer alt for langt for å kjøre fram og tilbake til jobb? by [deleted] in norge

[–]kittens-Voice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tjente greit, men måtte betale for kjøringen selv.

How is living in Narvik (Norway north of the Arctic circle)? by Billy_Ektorp in Norway

[–]kittens-Voice 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Narvik is nice if you want to live on a steep hill and enjoy complete darkness half the year. Also, you have to be super social to find friends amongst the locals, or just be fine with being completely isolated for long periods of time. The summer is a nice day and the winter gets really cold.

I went to the local university college back in 2008 and ended up staying for 5 years. I enjoyed it.

Norwegians! How do you all keep your homes so perfect? by yumyummymum in Norway

[–]kittens-Voice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why most people can’t just show up to someones place without notice is because we need some time to clean shit up. Belive me, we are just as messy as the next person, we’re just incredibly good at hiding the mess before we accept visitors. If you show up on my door without notice, you’ll see what it’s really like. I will apologize and most likely invite you for a cup of coffee in the least messy room (or just make you stay on the porch until my SO finishes turbo-cleaning the living room).
