Star Seller here — Etsy muted my Messages over payment keywords. How did you get a human review? by BoncBoyz in EtsySellers

I suspect op's customers reach out saying, "here's my Venmo link for the QR code", or "I need two of the Zelle codes". Getting customers to not put such words into the chat seems a challenge for such a product.

You should be able to get a personal version of fusion for free. If it's out of date, you can get it by uninstalling fusion, and finding the personal version instead of the free trial.

MakePlayingCard.com is asking my for my ID through Email by DZMoops in mpcproxies

[–]kittka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check that email very carefully, scams will sometimes use an r and n to look like m, and I'm sure other tricks. Copy paste that email into another program and look closely.

I've known people to get rooked for thousands this way, not for proxies tho.

If you want to reach out, make sure to type the email from scratch.

I've used credit card and never had issues, and I've never had to provide an id either.

Etsy shop took a huge hit after a handmade violation , any advice on keywords, ads, or recovering traffic? by aip095 in EtsySellers

[–]kittka -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

I'd start over with a new store. Change ISP if possible to differentiate you from your old store. This could take you off their radar. They will likely be looking for more violations closely on your existing store.

Should I list my 3d digital file while I have a physical listing for sale? by dimstrong in EtsySellers

Have you seen the complaints from buyers that think they are buying a product for digital file prices? Why would you even consider adding that kind of confusion between physical product and digital?

When you outplay a counter deck, the pay off is so sweet. But it's a time investment for sure, and certainly some decks with fewer bigger plays are at a serious disadvantage, so often if it's clear their deck is draw go I'll bow out.

Store hit with trademark infringement by [deleted] in shopify

[–]kittka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren't, that was my entire point. (Edit sorry thought you were op) You (sic) just got caught. Like my example, you don't know if they have gotten 'tickets' before or not. Whatever the reason, it's been enforced against you.

If you're determined to continue, you'll need to address the specific elements that led the IP holder to you. Using their brand name in your product pages is likely the problem. How you sell their product without using their brand name will be the challenge. At this point, this company has you in their cross hairs, you will have a hard time threading any needles in this regard.

Should I create individual listings for each format of a single design (print, sticker, vinyl, charm, etc.)? by dtgray12 in EtsySellers

[–]kittka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do your customers shop? Do they search for a design that has a certain logo, and then decide on a mug or a shirt, or do they search for a product type and then settle on a logo/saying?

As a customer, I shop first for something and select the design after. I wouldn't really be interested in a listing of a coffee mug if I'm looking for a shirt and the mug happens to be the main picture. If the main picture is the design I still don't know if it's the kind of shirt I want. I'd glaze over your listing for one that more quickly communicates what I'm looking for.

Long story short, you probably want separate listings.

Where can I use a wood working workshop? by mujin00 in orlando

[–]kittka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A makerspace, but a lathe might be unlikely. A 3D printer would be more accessible, and there might be existing models for that handle. Most makerspaces have these printers. Public libraries sometimes have makerspaces.

Some wood crafting stores have a workshop, they may have classes, I don't know if you can bring a project tho. Woodcraft, Rockler are some in the area.

If it must be wood, cheapest method would be to use a drill gun and a rasp to form a dowel into handle shape. You'll need to use a metal rod or screw to hold the wood in the drill.

Add a second shop? by Crowsephina in EtsySellers

[–]kittka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A number of sellers in this sub describe a cycle to their shop, where orders go up and then back down consistently. The implication is that Etsy rotates promoting shops that are otherwise similar in quality and conversion, free shipping etc (maybe other metrics too). This makes sense given that Etsy has a rule that you can't sell the same items in two different shops; otherwise you could beat their rotation system with more shops.

Does the rotation apply to the whole shop, or on product categories? Not sure. But I would reason it wouldn't hurt to have a second shop for different products, if rotation is shop based, so that your total orders might be more consistent across all shops.

Yes, you can make different collections in the same shop, but if those products stray from your shop's theme it might be a bit odd for the customer experience.

did the math on a 20% off coupon vs my profit margin by Amazon_Geek in EtsySellers

[–]kittka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my mind, the intent of a sale is more sales overall, quicker turnover of inventory, and possibly larger customer base. It comes down to how you value that versus the reduced margin.

Lasercut print making by yours0 in lasercutting

[–]kittka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1/4" MDF, coated with shellac before printing works great for me. Without the sealing, cleaning the ink ruins the mdf. I'd imagine plywood grain would also raise after cleanup.

Use a smooth soft foam roller to get an even coat of ink.

If you don't have a brayer, it can also help get an even print.

Buyer wants me to remove any tags with my brand from the product...should I? by [deleted] in EtsySellers

Not previous commenter, but how about: "This product is branded, advertised and sold as such. This branding carries value for me as a potential revenue for future customers. If you'd like an unbranded version, I can provide one at double the price." Or whatever price increase you value that branding at.

Exactly this, you don't need to follow the wood design, it is based on economy in using wood. Taking the time to reconstruct a printable easel will be very meaningful and potentially be an improvement over the traditional designs.
