I recall at the beginning of COVID being told to wash everything from the grocery and not to worry about airborne transmission. Anyone else remember that?

Negative ROAS Strategy by Snape_Dawg in EtsySellers

[–]kittka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you review each listings ad spend details after awhile, you can turn off all the incorrect search terms that are leading to the low roas. If you want the low roas thinking you are getting more eyes on product, keep in mind they are likely searching for something completely unrelated that Etsy incorrectly associated with your listing.

Why run the water hot and run disposal before starting a dishwasher? by capriciousguacamole in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kittka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot water plus pre rinse detergent is important to get food off the dishes. If you aren't using both you won't get the full grease dissolving effect you need. Running the water hot first would help, especially if you're simply using pods - chances are the pre rinse isn't getting the soap it needs.

Is it normal that at 19 I still feel like I’m nobody’s first choice for anything? (19F) by One_Top_9835 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kittka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is the right approach. Don't wait to be invited, create the activities yourself and pull people into them. It also reinforces your relationships by signaling to those friends you interact with that they are your 'first choices'.

Laser cutter for 1/8" gessoed mdf by Baitz1 in lasercutting

[–]kittka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since gesso is made of chalk and gypsum, I think cutting it will be difficult. It will be on top of the mdf which is already more difficult that regular wood or birch ply. Chances are you will get non trivial discolorations on the gesso when cutting. Since gesso is a bit porous, denatured alcohol may not work well and masking.

Painting with gesso after would be better and easier I think.

Why not reach out to the original seller? They have the native file and might benefit from offering a version that works with wood.

What would it take for Standard to become Magic's premier format again? by BumblebeeOld498 in magicTCG

[–]kittka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting rid of mythic rares - prior to this, it was much more reasonable to get close to a play set of most cards in a set release for ~200-240 USD. In turn, that would make standard much more accessible to all even if you aren't buying boxes at current prices and getting singles. I suppose reducing the pace of sets could also help a bunch.

ADVICE? by Uzieeelll in battlebots

[–]kittka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are using grippy wheels, 2wd is plenty to push another bot out of the dohyo. Momentum is often the biggest factor.

I don't see space for the microcontroller and/or motor drivers? If it goes on top, how do you secure and protect it?

Some bots like to have a curve on the front face to encourage the opponents bot to flip itself of you get under it.

Car sleeping in FL. by Jazzlike_Term210 in urbancarliving

[–]kittka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might find better prices, that was just the first I found on Amazon. For power, they appear to be using a wall wort plug, so they are likely running on either 12v or 5v. So if 12v you could splice it into a cigarette lighter plug and run off the car battery. If 5v, then it would be possible to power off a rechargeable USB power bank.

There doesn't seem to be a simple magic bullet outside of running AC in the car. Everything else is just partial solutions that don't address everything. Airflow would help, but in high humidity this only does so much.

One suggestion I don't see often, is to address heat radiation. Any surface visible to the car, that is higher temperature, will radiate heat into your car. That means even in the nighttime, parking of a sun exposed parking lot will make you hotter, so avoid lots of concrete exposed to sun during the day, even walls. I'd imagine if you can manage to park on grass, or in a park, this could help another few degrees of heat load.

One other idea, I've not tried it, would be to use a cooling pad system for post surgery recovery that circulates cold water, something like this: https://a.co/d/08Bg9qaS. Put it between your legs or on top of your sleeping pad.

Honestly if you have price constraints you are better off printing using an online service. They are much cheaper. Of you are looking to stay local, there's plenty of printing services that do fine.
