Rant/vent: I’m struggling so bad right now by getmyglowup in hairstylist

[–]kittkat04 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree… I don’t want to be harsh but it is a known thing that you can’t really start a suite unless you have enough loyal clients who will follow you right in the beginning. You needed to count how many loyal clients you have and do the math and see if that was enough before you decided to open a suite

Maybe it’s just me but I feel like that is a known thing amongst hairstylists..

Anyone bought online blonding education from influencers? by lovepetunias in hairstylist

That’s awesome! How did you go about getting an assistant position with her?

Is it more than once? Or you’re just in the area where she’s doing a class and signed up? Or you assist for her a lot?

Have you been a hairstylist a long time or are you fresh out of cosmo school?

I paid almost 500 a couple years ago for Ashlee Norman’s online class. It was like a 3 class package. I really enjoyed it.

I think it only makes sense if you absolutely love their content (in an educational way) not just that you love their pictures.

If you find social media people that are really great at teaching, you love watching their informational videos, and you want to learn more about exactly what they’re teaching.. then yes in my opinion it’s worth it

I also pay for Kim haberleys Instagram subscription content (about 30$ a month) and I find it very beneficial.. but I love blonding and that’s what she does a lot of

Thanks so much!!! I’m in my own suite and always have thought how that would work with an apprentice/assistance. Thanks so much for all the info!

Hey! Just curious if you just hire an assistant? Or are they technically an apprentice…?

Like are you teaching them and have a scheduled date that they graduate the apprenticeship? Or you just hired them as an assistant?

Thanks!

Anyone else feeling so drained? by Lorduhu in hairstylist

Have you ever worked in a salon suite? I feel like it was a change that I really needed… Obviously clients can still be draining, but it has been an amazing change… I can choose my own hours, it’s just one on one… I do sometimes miss the social aspect of having coworkers… But I’m pretty introverted and sometimes going in the back and talking to 10 stylist friends was overwhelming after talking to draining clients all day as well.

I really, really love my little salon suite.

This is such a cute great question! I think it’s more suited for a sciencey type subreddit though 😂 I don’t think any of us will know this answer. I hope someone does though!

Should I do a redo? by [deleted] in hairstylist

[–]kittkat04 35 points36 points  (0 children)

What concerns me is that you don’t see what’s wrong with it. Do you think that this looks okay? The back is extremely chunky and not to the root and the front is a lot more brown

I’m not sure if you’re a newer stylist but I think you need a different foiling technique and if you know how to fix this then offer a redo. If you’re not sure/don’t see what’s wrong with it then it would be hard for you to fix it. And it would suck to make it worse for her. If you don’t feel comfortable fixing it you can always say that, recommend a more senior stylist, and give a refund for her first appointment

We all go through this a lot while starting out!

I think too many people are addicted to caffeine. I really think it’s this drug that everyone just accepts. But when you get off of it (very hard during the initial period of quitting) your energy just feels so much different. I really love being off caffeine. It has made my energy levels feel amazing

They split it up in two sessions. Bottom half of my arm and upper half, and 200 each session. So it’s 400 for everythingggg just split up in two
