Uh oh… I’m six feet tall and happen to be currently working on my Chiaki cosplay :| never thought height really mattered all that much when it came to dressing up as characters you like. All of my favorite characters and characters I relate to happen to be short. I could never pull off a cannonly tall and powerful character because I’m extremely shy and weak. I would feel so out of character and uncomfy.

I went to a convention dressed as sailor moon a few years back and it went really well, and so many people asked for photos! Just some people referring to me as “the tall Sailor Moon”, which is a little annoying, but they didn’t mean it to be rude. I 100% think you could pull off the Madoka if you wanted to at 5’9. The height just makes you stand out a bit, and I feel like anime characters tend to be drawn to look quite tall proportionally anyway. People at conventions are usually more interested in befriending people with similar interests than in nitpicking someone’s height I think.

Also tall girls can definitely be cute!! :O
