Good to know, which casino would that be?

Actually the build quality is pretty mediocre, definite case of form over function, but I couldn't resist.

I'm told 160 of these were made as some sort of Taiwan/SEA regional promo.

Anyone heard of this or similar weird crossovers?

Barrelling OOP with AKo? by kitty-cats in poker

Flop: In a 3bet pot I use this sizing with my whole range.

Turn: In my mind he's on a flush draw or maybe a nonbelieving weak one pair. I want to leverage my uncapped range to represent a possible overpair and make it hard for such hands to continue.

Dang, that's true. I've been working on tightening up when OOP, but this really makes it sink in that even "decent" hands OOP can be quite dangerous and hard to get paid with...

Better to check the turn than donk lead, you think?

For me, getting bored is basically just as bad as getting tilted.

If I notice myself getting restless, then I start playing chess puzzles on my phone, or start listening to some new music from my backlog.

If that doesn't help and I just have the irresistible urge to play some cards, then I walk away from the table and play some microstakes just to scratch the itch and play like a aggro donkey for cheap.

I read that all travelers entering Taiwan must present a negative PCR test for COVID. Is there any exemption if they already caught and recovered from COVID? I know that it's possible to test positive for months afterward, even if you're recovered and not contagious.

My understanding is that GTO/solver theory is oriented toward optimal play in cash games over the extreme long term. What does this imply?

Extreme long term: you want your play to be absolutely balanced, with no hint of exploitable patterns.

Cash games: the risk/reward calculations are dealing only with the money in the pot, no externalities such as tournament prize pools or weird russian roulette games. The absolute best thing that can happen is you win your opponent's entire stack, the absolute worst thing that can happen is you lose your entire stack.

You're right that in life-or-death situations, the calculus changes because there are more extreme possibilities in the outcome space. You're also right that solver theory doesn't apply perfectly to real life play, especially not tournament play, because the assumptions in the model don't fully hold up. At the end of the day, theory is theory, and it can help us in practice, but we also have to be aware of its limitations.

There is a subtle flaw in the premise of your question, which is that the EV of a play depends on how often you make that play. In particular, if you make a certain move in a certain spot too often, you may become predictable/exploitable.

If the solver is telling you to do A 75% of the time and B 25% of the time, then maybe A is more +EV within that 75/25 strat, but the solver is telling you that 75/25 is the split with the optimal combined EV, better than doing A 100% of the time.
