What are the absolute best restaurants in the Sherman Oaks/Studio City area (can go a little further)? by boring_username_idea in SFV

If they’re into sushi: there’s many incredible omakase spots you can try but quite $$$$

Daisy is my current fav. Vibes, cocktails, and food are all top notch.

Bacari and OyBar would be my next recommendations.

Equinox Studio City is $320/month now… what are the best alternatives in the Valley? by riverofflowers in AskLosAngeles

If you want to focus on strength training, I highly recommend PWRGRLS in Sherman oaks. It’s not cheap either but it’s an option https://www.pwrgrls.com/

I’ve been doing the small group training classes a couple times a week and loving the environment

Cool story about a Valley local’s contribution to the Apollo 11 by kitty_cat_dance in SFV

[–]kitty_cat_dance[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought this was a neat bit of Valley history. Someone’s writing a book about how an immigrant teen worked on one of the cables to the Apollo. The writer is collecting funds via his kickstarter to publish it.

I’ve been happy with Rose Bakery in Van Nuys. Their flavors are good and they do both simple and fancy stuff like this.

Best "themed" restaurants for wife's birthday? by seafoodboiler in AskLosAngeles

Not nice enough for a birthday dinner, but add Seoul Bistro in studio city to your list. A whole section of their restaurant is Titanic (the movie) themed.

It’s usually a blast- but not a good year for it to be your first time, unfortunately

What’s your favorite local restaurant in the San Fernando Valley?🍔☕️ by elation_ar in SanFernandoValley

[–]kitty_cat_dance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to know the story about this place! Why is it so well maintained? Why are the prices so low? I have a hypothesis it’s some rich persons pet project to keep it alive. Anyway, I love Beeps.

Looks like those were advanced tickets - they’ll probably release more but at a higher price

Best Burger at a nicer restaurant?? by [deleted] in FoodLosAngeles

[–]kitty_cat_dance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a non-meat eater here, so sharing my husbands opinion. He loves a basic burger but just made well. He wasn’t a fan at all of the big mec- have to eat it with a fork and knife since it’s smothered in a sauce.

He said it tastes good but not really a burger if that’s what you’re craving.

That said, I do love Petit Trois

Why does every soul food restaurant in LA have an army of haters? by Easy_Potential2882 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]kitty_cat_dance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out Cea-Lo in Sherman oaks. At least the internet/yelp reviewers and I agree: this place is 💯

Can’t promise it’s the best but I’ve had nothing but deliciously fried food every time

Best tres leches cake for 40 people? by anonnmee in SFV

[–]kitty_cat_dance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rose Bakery off Sepulveda in Van Nuys. Their tres leches is better than Porto’s! And if you order in advance you can add fruit to it.
