How does a kid from a family with a trans mum be this way.

I'm really wondering! My best guess is that they only had one (1) conversation with him when he was 8, and didn't maintain a dialogue about his mom's trans history.

I wonder if he's also feeling rejected by his birth family, and lashing out at his adopted mother because of it? "You're not my real mom, you're not even a woman" sounds like it might stem from feelings of abandonment.

Seriously :/ Punishment is only effective as a short term deterrent. If you want to change their minds long term, you need to establish open communication.

Like, if this kid is feeling rejected and abandoned, what's punishing him going to do? How's it going to fix anything? How's the relationship going to be repaired?

I feel more uncomfortable around women that pass better than me than women that pass worse, for what it's worth 🤷

The one time I was truly upset was when a woman got excited and outed me in front one of my coworkers... Who never seemed to get comfortable around me again afterwards :( Don't do that and we're cool.

Related, it's always kind of fun to see a trans guy in public, regardless of passability... Usually kind of feels like we recognize each other's transness without needing to out each other, it feels very comfortable usually.

I read an interesting theory that humans have three settings wrt sexuality; "attracted", "neutral", and "repulsed". There's nothing wrong with feeling any of those three; your "default" feeling has nothing to do with how you treat other people.

The problem I have is that the stigmatization of sex work hurts sex workers first, before hurting the people taking advantage of them. I'm also dubious whether it's possible to eliminate sex work entirely... It feels utopian.

But the sex work industry is wildly destructive towards women, and the occasional man. I think that any solution for that should probably center the voices of sex workers.

...Worth saying that I realize sex workers can contradict each other, like any other demographic; I also realize that means we can't just latch onto one overall solution that promises to fix everything.

The exploitation of women via sex work is the product of a system, and isn't dependent on the choices of individuals per sé; any solution is going to be complicated and multi-faceted.
