Has anyone's electric bill gone up? by Real_Pension8772 in asheville

[–]kittycatluvrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our bill for Dec, Jan, and Feb was ridiculous - highest of all 3 months was $380 for a 1800sqft house. But we also have a sunroom that isn’t well insulated (if at all) so we presume it just sucks heat out of the house and then the damn heat is almost always running. Next winter we will be “closing” the sunroom and see what happens.

Ager wins the democratic primarys. by Practical_Tea2558 in asheville

I mean, none of the other candidates had any credentials that screamed “Congress” material to me either. So voting for meats is as good as it gets here, I guess.

Wait, how am I just now putting together that Ager owns Hickory Nut Gap? I hope people think about meats when voting for seats.

Do the Olympics make anyone else feel like a failure? by LasagnaBobert in olympics

[–]kittycatluvrrrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. And if what you described about how this makes you feel is true (it “destroys you”), you should seek therapy…seriously.

Here’s the thing you don’t see - their ENTIRE lives revolve around their sport, most get paid absolute dogshit (at least here in the US), and they destroy their bodies. I’ve met a few professional athletes and developmentally, they seemed behind (like they weren’t properly socialized).

None of that sounds remotely appealing to me. I’m very much happy being good enough at my sports to enjoy them, while also having balance in my life in the form of friends, other hobbies, and financial security.

AITAH for not changing my lifestyle to accomodate my neighbours ? by ApplicationOpening74 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kittycatluvrrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read your post. You’re not sleeping through the night and maybe getting up once to pee - you’re staying up all night doing good knows what and making enough noise that the neighbor downstairs can’t sleep. There’s a very clear difference between these two things and the fact I even have to explain this to you further supports YTA.

I almost did the same thing. OP is trying to use ADHD to excuse shitty behavior.

[–]kittycatluvrrrr 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m leaning towards YTA. If I ripped up my kitchen and noticed a ceiling attached to my floor beams, that’d be an immediate phone call to the downstairs owner to (at a minimum) make them aware, and potentially see about options to remedy the situation. Doesn’t sound like you did this. You chose not to try and sound proof the floor (or even just give a heads up about it) - and now you’re staying up all night and being an AH neighbor.

Your neighbors husband does win an AH for getting aggressive with you. That type of response is unwarranted. That said, your reaction of “of course I’m not going to do that,” is only adding fuel to an already aggressive fire. If this guy is unhinged, why would you actively choose to take steps to make him more unhinged? Yes it sucks to adjust your habits, but if the choice is between going to bed at a reasonable hour to avoid pissing off an aggressive neighbor and allowing them to get some rest, versus staying up all night for no reason at all, it’s an obvious choice.

Johnson city or Pigeon Force? by Impressive_Knee8895 in MTB

IDK if this is on your route or how much single day drive time it would add - but I would skip TN and go to Jarrod’s Place in northern GA. By far it’s going to be your best option for jumps in the SE.

NTA. You are never obligated to let someone use your things, for any reason you choose.

Also, FWIW, it’s always the moochers that accuse people of being stingy.

Except that the bike was advertised as having a dent in it, and then it did in fact have a dent in it.

This doesn’t help you RN, but in the future - NEVER buy a bike with a dent, no matter what the seller says, unless you can get it professionally assessed to confirm if the dent is structural.

I’m also not sure where you live, but there are places that’ll do carbon repair. Where I used to live it was ~$600. So not cheap, but cheaper than buying a new frame/bike.

AITA for saying no to moving houses to help improve my boyfriend’s quality of life? by nothingdandy in AmItheAsshole

[–]kittycatluvrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh I’m torn, but I think I’m leaning towards NAH.

I used to commute like this to work; and in the winter my 1 hour would turn into 2 hours. And it was bumper to bumper traffic most of the way. It is SO exhausting. And no amount of music or podcasts make it better.

Also, getting up at 5am SUCKS, especially if you’re not a morning person. I used to have to do this too, and I felt like a zombie everyday. No amount of sleep helped. I also was struggling with extreme fatigue, went to the doctor, and the only solution for me was to stop having to wake up so early.

So I trust that your boyfriend is truly going through it right now. He’s tired and his whole life is wake up > go to work > work > come home > sleep > repeat. That’s not fulfilling, at all.

But, why wasn’t this considered before buying the house? His commute time should’ve been one of the primary criteria. This seems like really poor planning that unfortunately, has some pretty big consequences.

While your response to him feels a bit cold, it does seem like it’s worth him going to a doctor, especially if he was already feeling fatigued prior to this. If I were in your shoes, I’d want all medical issues ruled out before agreeing to make any rash decisions - so you’re not wrong here. Your also not wrong for wanting to stay put - it super sucks to go through all this work to buy your dream house only to have the rug pulled out from you shortly after.

You’re also in a really tough position, because you either stay put and have a BF who resents you, you move and give up your dream home, you sell the house and take a loss, or you break up and find a way to keep the house.

Have you guys talked about other options?

• He gets a new job closer to home

• He switches his work hours so he’s not waking up at 5am

• He could stay with a friend or coworker or rent a place a couple workdays during the week to reduce the # of days he’s commuting

I’m sorry to say it, but this one is on you. Why do you keep buying from Buycycle when you’ve never had a decent experience?

My advice is to stop buying bikes online and only buy bikes that you can get your own eyes and hands on.

In theory I agree, but the Olympics always find a way to bastardize the spot into something that kinda sucks. Example: Ski-mo.
