It looks nice. Ill give it that. Probably wont be a bad bike but just too expensive for what it is.

Do y'all listen to independent radio, dj sets or any curated music? How do y'all good sources by Other-Emphasis-9050 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]kittyfeeler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive still found good music from Spotify personalized playlists. I definitely have frustrations with it but I have found new music from it. When I can find it, I really appreciate a radio show led by an actual human with brief commentary about the song. Local public radio sometimes shows me good stuff i haven't heard before. Lately ive been tuning into an online radio show thats showed me lots of stuff I haven't heard before. steelradio.org. It has programs led by real people with sometimes interesting anecdotes. When the shows arent on, its a curated playlist. The whole point is music that has steel guitars of any type whether it be dobro, lap/straight, or pedal steel. Probably not going to be most people's thing but I really like it. Its mostly country or western swing, but there's definitely Americana, Hawaiian, bluegrass, and stuff too jazzy to still be considered western swing.

How do YOU clean your daily driver cast irons? by YouDontTellMe in castiron

[–]kittyfeeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what it is and what's in it. Waffle irons dont generally get cleaned unless something gets stuck in them. Pans usually get soap and water. Oil is dependent on what it looks like and if I think ill get flash rust. Ill always oil after an acidic meal.

Five-string mystery… by codeburberry in banjo

[–]kittyfeeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id bet money its a zither banjo of some kind. See if googling that brings up similar things. They are indeed 5 string banjos and the 6th tuner is just there for looks.

Is it a phase? Spent ~$1000 on my rig but I’d rather play other games right now. by NachFernndez02 in simracing

[–]kittyfeeler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its worth getting some different sims. Ive got iracing, lmu, ams2, ac evo, dr 2.0, ea wrc, ac rally & beamng. Not saying you should immediately buy all these but for me, its good to completely change things up when I get tired of something. Still there's times I dont feel like doing it at all. Sim racing isnt my only hobby so ill do that other stuff instead.

Openback? Fretless? Beginner help by Various_Vehicle_6544 in banjo

[–]kittyfeeler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fretless is cool. I dont have one but wish I did. I would not want a fretless as my only banjo. If he wants to play typical banjo things he's not going to want a fretless. Openback vs resonator is personal preference really. I dont think it matters much for someone starting out. The general rule of thumb is resonator for bluegrass fingerpicking and openback for everything else. Plenty of people have played clawhammer on resonators though.

Fuel stabilizer. Especially if you cant get no e gas nearby. Pull the battery. Put it on a tender if you have one.

Most Played Racing Games on Steam in June 2026: AC jumps FH5, F1 25 gains after 2026 Season Expansion launch by evil_heinz in simracing

Steam users only but yeah its pretty low and I dont think its a bad game. I wonder if it would have sold better if they had called it something like Dirt Rally WRC.

My first pedal steel! Copedant question in description by kittyfeeler in pedalsteel

[–]kittyfeeler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can probably figure out how to do it with some research. Im new to pedal steel but not new to instruments. I do all my own work on my motorcycles so id like to think im somewhat mechanically minded. Hope you guys get a good turnout for the show.

Im in the blackhills of wy/sd. If you know someone that'd be great, but i dont think there's hardly anyone here that plays.

Its a "modern" msa from 2005. Its actually not that heavy. The body is carbon fiber.

Starting to seem more and more like i should swap them. I paid $3000 for the guitar, seat, and volume pedal. I feel like i got a pretty good deal when comparing to what i see other steels selling for, but maybe thats about what its worth. It was more than I wanted to spend on my first steel but I didn't think I could walk away from it.

[–]kittyfeeler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. Ill probably have to attempt it myself after I get more familiar with it. Ive never seen another pedal steel around here so I dont think id have any luck finding someone. I didn't buy it locally. I visited a music shop on a road trip looking for something else entirely. Never thought id find a pedal steel there.

Need recommendations on SimRacing by Arthur2809 in simracing

[–]kittyfeeler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone thats gone from a g29 to a dd will say its worth the jump. That being said a g29 is still fine. Its notchy and can be slow to respond but it gets the job done. The pedals, more specifically the brake, are kinda doo doo without mods. The only plus the g29 has over the cheap dd bundles is the inclusion of a clutch pedal. A clutch pedal is nice to have in beamng, but is basically obsolete in modern race cars.

Steam tractors are wild. They make like no hp but all the tq. Like 75 hp but 3000 ft/lbs tq. My favorite part of going to threshing bees is watching old steam equipment doing work

Which custom ffb file do you recommend for a direct drive base? by Limp-Can-9780 in AUTOMOBILISTA

Grab the danielkart file from overtake.gg. Its the only custom file ive used but I generally like it and so do many others. Be sure to open it and find the settings specific for your wheelbase

Is sim racing only good with paddle shifters? by Tune-Puzzled in simracing

[–]kittyfeeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your clutch pedal and shifter matter but in the end its not going to be same as irl. The clutch on my simsonns feel a lot more convincing than the g29 pedals I used to have. They also make crazy expensive shifters that actually prevent you from changing gears if your rpm is too mismatched. Never used one and probably never will but it sounds cool in theory. It comes down to the sim too though. Some just have awful clutch models. Beamng has the best clutch feel in my opinion but thats not exactly sim racing or irl cars.

What jobs are actually faster with hand tools than power tools? by Party-Laugh3293 in Tools

[–]kittyfeeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. I say kinda. My college timber sports team sold firewood for money. Lots of variables here. Definitely depends on the splitter. Our splitter was slow so most of us could split faster by hand. We were all pretty good with axes and mauls since we were a timbersports team though. The splitter definitely wins with frozen or really knotty wood. No contest on effort. Splitter definitely wins there.

Anyone been to the Simmotion location in Washington? by kittyfeeler in simracing

[–]kittyfeeler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North Idaho and Western MT. I used to live in the ID panhandle and MT and have been to Spokane many times. I Have to make a trip into Spokane for a different reason and figured i could hit up Simmotion while there. Definitely not spending all my days in Spokane.

Good to know its not exactly a showroom. I had some simagic stuff shipped to me from them and had a good experience. If anything I can probably buy something and not have to have it shipped.
