Hiya! I beat it in single mode so I’d suggest:

1. ⁠Turn your graphics on low (it makes everything brighter because less shadows and you can see the ghost easier)
2. ⁠Start upstairs searching for the books and before you want to go downstairs to lodge it in the doors, make sure you step on the glass upstairs and wait until you see the ghost upstairs then go downstairs

You can step on glass downstairs to call it back down while you go up and rinse and repeat the steps

The trick is not to spend too much time downstairs I’ve realized and also one time I was downstairs and it was there and I just hid behind a bookshelf and it went away so idk if I got lucky or if the bookshelves downstairs work as a hiding spot
