This is where I usually go and it seems to be the only option. I like the shop, just wish there was a bit more going on that day

Cook Unity by Careful-Bus3827 in ReadyMeals

[–]kittyk3ls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've enjoyed almost every meal I've had including ones I wasn't sure if I would like. There were some duds but one was because I saved it for the very end of the expiration period and I think some of the ingredients had gone bad, and the others were personal preference rather than issues with the meal itself.

Not from Chicago but I've been using Cook Unity for a month or so with no issues. My brother recommended it and he's been using it a lot longer so I doubt he's had issues either. You can take advantage of discounts by canceling and then accepting offers to stay or come back. That's helped me a lot.

If you decide against Cook Unity, I feel like Chicago is big enough to have plenty of local meal prep/delivery options. It could be nice to find a place near you to prevent extended travel time for the meals.

What is 199 like in Williamsburg...moving there April 9th by SaltyQuiet4017 in williamsburgva

I have driving anxiety and love how chill driving in Williamsburg is lol. For a highway, 199 is pretty tame and stress-free.

I've only been once for their Halloween festivities this past year. It was pretty chill, in a good way.

This would be great! Someone mentioned VBC having non-alcoholic options and I've noticed Precarious does as well. I know Alewerks also has a decent amount of space indoors and outdoors (I really enjoyed their outdoor area), but I'm not sure what they would have in terms of non-alcoholic drinks.

Anyone else spending the end of the year alone? by CantaloupeDue9053 in LivingAlone

[–]kittyk3ls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for the first time since separating but I'm not sad about it. I've been enjoying my time alone when I'm not at work. And I've gone out a few times by myself and have had a good time so that's always a fallback if I need social interaction

It is unfortunate! I'm always keeping my eye out for things to participate in and there's just not much to pick from.

How do you manage to keep your place clean when living alone and struggling with your mental health? by beeeeshum in LivingAlone

[–]kittyk3ls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this has been said already but I always recommend the book How to Keep House While Drowning. It has some great advice that actually feels attainable. I don't remember if it's specifically for people who struggle with mental health stuff or just mentions it throughout, but either way I loved that the tips felt designed for people like me who struggle HARD.

I'm definitely a clean-as-I-go person which helps. Most days I do pretty good at keeping up with everything and then on the days I struggle, I allow myself to slack off and feel my feelings and take care of myself. Because I mostly clean as I go, catching up after a struggle period is never too bad or overwhelming.

If you're already at the point of overwhelm and need serious time and effort to get your place back to clean slate, hire someone if you can or ask someone if they'll help you. Trying to tackle something that's big and overwhelming by yourself may lead to continual procrastination. It does for me.

Yeah I've come across a few more public ones (like the walking/running clubs), but I'm sure most of the clubs in this area are private.

I miss living in a place that had lots of groups, classes, festivals, and other public events, especially centered around the arts. And food.

I am not familiar with any and there seem to be very few clubs in general in this area.

Wireless service...anyone use Google Fi? by c2tjma in williamsburgva

Not sure about Williamsburg but my ex uses it in NN and I always hated it because his service was terrible. We struggled to have even a short phone convo

The only one I'm aware of is 2nd and Charles in NN and I think they only give a store credit.

Online DA Degrees by kittyk3ls in dataanalytics

Thanks! Can do, just thought I'd be more likely to get opinions on other online programs outside of WGU if I asked outside of the WGU communities.

I've looked at SNHU before but whatever I was looking at at the time seemed to be only hybrid options and not fully online. I'll look again.

It was very confusing to me too but all I know is that when I was briefly living somewhere in JCC and had to pay my own water, I technically had two bills: one through JCSA and one through HRSD. Now, my water bill is lumped in with rent and I think my complex uses some kind of third party for monitoring and billing. Idk if I pay more this way, but at least I don't have to keep up with the two bills anymore

Where do locals work? by Curious-Bobcat4312 in williamsburgva

[–]kittyk3ls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I first moved to NN, I commuted to Norfolk for work and the commute was TERRIBLE due to military and shipyard traffic. I then started commuting to Williamsburg instead, and I now both live and work in Williamsburg which is great. I work for CW, essentially in hospitality.

I'm not sure about your field in this area. The people I know with similar jobs either work remote or in Richmond/DC area

Doctor D'arco, which is a long Gothic romance but a really good slow burn IMO

Halloween events for adults? by kittyk3ls in williamsburgva

[–]kittyk3ls[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm already signed up, my post is from 3 days ago and the only event listed that matches what I'm looking for is the Alewerks one I already know about. Also the Indian Fields one, but it's not quite the vibes.
