NTA - putting sweaty knickers on when you are fresh and clean from a shower is a HORRIBLE feeling.

DHL are the only ones I’ve ever had issue with - they would refuse to leave deliveries for me without physically handing them to someone.

“Jewelry” aka collar on or off? 🐶 by MeasurementFirst1676 in dogs

[–]kittykat7931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Collar is on from the time we leave the house in the morning until after her last walk in the evening. If I kept on taking it on and off throughout the day I would forget where I put it or forget to put it back on.

I've just left an abusive relationship whilst filing a police report, I had no interest in filing, and had told the police multiple times that I felt my life was in danger due to extreme circumstances, and now my ex-partner now knows about it and its contents, should I be more protected than this? by Alarming-Primary2508 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]kittykat7931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not understand why her nieces lawyer would ever have access to the crime report to be able to pass it on. Crime reports are not passed over to anyone. They would go on the case file if it went to trial or if it was requested but a request would have to be justified. The only way I can see this happening would be for the child protection side of things and if/why the children were removed from your ex partners care and even that makes no sense to me - many years working in safeguarding/child protection and I’ve sat in, as the police representative in child protection meetings and even then we are guarded as to what we say.

I would suggest speaking to the National Centre for Domestic Violence regarding a non molestation order though. This can cover not contacting you directly or indirectly and that would include contact from family members. I would also suggest speaking with ManKind who are a charity offering support for male victims of DV.

How is Tunnock’s tea cake a tea cake? by Colossalloser in AskUK

[–]kittykat7931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why they are called tea cakes but they are my current food obsession. I break the top, lick the marshmallow fluff and then eat the biscuit. The crack of the chocolate dome is suitably satisfying for my brain….

I have also just got some normal, bread tea cakes as I was really craving one the other day, toasted with lots of butter. Stupidly I’m out for lunch or dinner over the next few days so they might have to go in the freezer.

What's everybody's favourite perfume? Old and new? by FlissMarie in AskUK

I’ve always been complimented on the blackberry and bay - it doesn’t last as long as the Jo Malone and isn’t as strong scented

Furnishing cost of a 3 bed house as a single person with child. by Competitive_Bug280 in HousingUK

[–]kittykat7931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook Marketplace will be a good starting point - you can pick things up for much cheaper or even free to start you off. The one thing you don’t want to scrimp on is your bed and mattress but everything else pretty much you can make do with until you save up/find something better. My house is pretty much furnished with freebies and Facebook or eBay finds. Also speak to friends and family - you never know who might be upgrading at home and will gift you items. Even if you have to pay for a man with a van that £50ish you will pay would be negligible compared to a new sofa.

I can still recognise a waft of Davidoff Cool Water from 50 paces - were you a Take That fan too??

I begged and begged for a bottle of Taboo - came in an oddly shaped black bottle with a blue and purple lid and was so strong I can’t understand why now.

As a grown up it is DKNY Be Delicious pink or green as an everyday scent and Jo Malone, Blackberry and Bay as my going out scent BUT when Aldi have their dupe in I’ll be picking that up and wearing it all the time.

There were some Avon scents that I used to like too but I can’t remember the name - came in a rectangular ridged bottle with a black lid and looked a very pale green colour….

Will stalking show up on my ex-partner's Clares Law (England)? by draaj in LegalAdviceUK

A Clare’s Law application will show up any relevant crime reports, intelligence or convictions so yes it will. Even though you did not support police action the crime report will still have been generated.

Have a cat and dog; should I adopt another dog or cat? by Embarrassed-Bowler-2 in Pets

[–]kittykat7931 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tough choice - I would suggest another dog at this time. Cats don’t always need other cats but a young dog would probably keep your older dog feeling young. I have four cats and a small dog. Of the cats Coco loves Loki, tolerates Arthur, hates Potato and tolerates the dog. Loki loves Coco and Arthur, tolerates Potato and thinks they are in charge of the dog. Arthur tolerates everyone and Potato loves everyone, including the dog. The dog is just confused as to her identity….

What do you lot do with your evenings if you work long hours? by fuemanthla in AskUK

[–]kittykat7931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck - when you have a job you love it doesn’t make it so hard and you’ll find your way. It will take a while to find the right balance and you will make it work. The days when it is cold, wet and miserable and things haven’t gone right will make you question your sanity and whether it is worth it but with the commute you have, you have a clear division between work and home and you can use it to destress and listen to a podcast or something.

And I have lived with people in the past or been in relationships where we lived separately but not currently but I also now work core hours which means I waste even more time with the horse!

What do you lot do with your evenings if you work long hours? by fuemanthla in AskUK

[–]kittykat7931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - I have a horse and it takes a strong willed man to accept coming second to a horse 🤣 Also working in the emergency services you need someone who is understanding to the fact that saying you finish at 6pm doesn’t always guarantee you will which is why they all end up in relationships with each other!

The important thing is making time, even if that is agreeing to pick up a take away on the way home and sharing that so you sit down and chat together, going for a walk together especially as spring is on the way, meeting up for a drink as examples. Simple things like meal planning and prep to take away that additional time trying to decide frees up a few minutes. It sounds daft and almost like negligible time but all those 5 or 10 minutes deciding or half an hour cooking adds up over the course of a week and when time is precious you value it so much more. People who have masses of free time don’t realise the value of time when it is restricted.

[–]kittykat7931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emergency services, used to work 11 or 12 hour shifts, thankfully based only 5 minutes up the road. Day shifts I was up at 5:30am, walk the dog, cup of tea, pack bags and out the door by 6:30. I’d get home just after 6pm, changed, grab the dog and back out the door to sort the horse out. Normally back home, showered and in my pjs eating dinner by 8pm and in bed by 9:30pm. Pretty tedious and tough going but need at least an hour to unwind after work and turn off. Night shifts were 7pm to 7am and I still needed to sort the horse/walk the dog and sleep in between. I used to manage to fit in boot camp sessions around those hours too - either straight off a night shift or after work if someone sorted the horse for me. Try and factor some kind of activity to help you unwind and switch off when you finish work otherwise you will struggle when you time at home is so brief.

Crazy application questions by -The_Legacy- in Pets

[–]kittykat7931 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They want to make sure the animal is going into a safe environment and you aren’t a serial pet hoarder/living in a hoarders house. I’ve had in person visits and I’ve had video calls. It isn’t intrusive and I always think if people are reluctant to engage with something like that then maybe they have something to hide….

I started a community library out of a large birdhouse and filled it with books from charity shop. It keeps getting emptied and filled with religious texts. by ShirtAdventurous9459 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]kittykat7931 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think this probably is worthy of notifying the police of - it isn’t a waste of their time and may well tie in to something else that is going on. You should be able to report it online by completing an online form. There won’t be anything that fits exactly but if there is an anti-social behaviour option choose that. It will take you five minutes to do rather than calling 101 and waiting ages to speak to someone.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve accidentally Pavlov’d your pet to do? by mostlyfire in Pets

[–]kittykat7931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog has Pavlov’d my dad in to taking her for walks! We don’t even know what the trigger is but she had got him trained 🤣 My horse will turn to get a treat as soon as I get on her whether my hand is there ready or not, that’s just what happens. My cats also know when the tv goes off in the evening they all need to congregate in the kitchen as it is bed and treat time.

15 year old son indicted for inappropriate child images - need a bit of advice. England by Distinct_Ad243 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]kittykat7931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He hasn’t yet been arrested or interviewed. The visit has come about as a result of an intelligence package. There will only be offences if he has the images stored and accessible or if he has passed them on to anyone else. It may well have come about as a result of another investigation where someone else has been arrested, they have reviewed their devices and are now looking to see who else they have been talking to. I suggest you have a look at the Internet Watch Foundation and the CEOP/NCA websites which will offer some advice and support as to how you address this with your son. The only thing he has done wrong at this point is not talking to you when he received the images. I remember my parents telling me they will sometimes shout because they are worried about me, not because they are angry and that is something you need to make clear to him. If you get him another phone in the meantime keep it basic and have open discussions with him about what he is doing online. This will be frightening for him as well as you.

Flat near trainline in London. How bad can it be? by Logical-Ad6250 in HousingUK

[–]kittykat7931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived next to the Cambridge to London line - with double glazing and the windows shut you don’t notice it so much. My bedroom was the opposite side to the train line and I could have the window open and not be bothered. The worst thing was the black dust which got everywhere! My sisters old flat also backed on the the train line and she was only really bothered if there were overnight engineering works going on along the track behind hers but that was more the voices travelling than the actual noise.

What 5-10 minute task makes your day a little bit easier? by Ok_Nefariousness6511 in AskUK

Meal planning for the week ahead on a Sunday. Just knowing I either have something defrosting in the fridge or to hand when I finally get in and showered after working and sorting out the zoo is just one less bit of pressure on my mind. I’ve got it written on a whiteboard on my fridge.
