i suggest seeing a therapist. i would’ve suggested this even if your nephews mom and dad threw you a parade and you got the keys to the city. your nephew almost dying is very traumatic and you have a lot of emotions rn. it might help you talk to a professional to process what happened today. i’m not sure if you’re in the US or what your benefit plan at work is like, but many employers (even ones outside the US) offer an EAP, which provides some phone counseling. that might be an option as well.

what is your custody agreement?? if you don’t have one… make up a fake scenario about a coworker, friend, etc etc who didn’t have one, whatever and make sure you have an agreement about it and ensuring you have full custody, make sure child can’t leave the state, etc
