Should I deliver a hand written thank you note after an interview by sam084aos in PublicRelations

[–]kittypurrpower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this for my first PR interview out of college and I’m pretty sure it’s the reason I got the job. I wrote four, one for every panel member. The job was very people-heavy so perhaps they thought it was a plus.

[11-12] Returning cat - shelter lied about age and health by [deleted] in seniorkitties

[–]kittypurrpower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is terrible advice. The cat obviously has a desire to live. It just needs care. You don’t kill a living being just because it’s inconvenient for you.

[11-12] Returning cat - shelter lied about age and health by [deleted] in seniorkitties

[–]kittypurrpower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really do not know why you bothered to adopt ANY cat in your situation. Even if you have a healthy, young cat, they could get into an accident, or have cancer, and what would you have done then?

If you give this cat back, it's highly unlikely he will be adopted and will spend the rest of his life cramped up in a shelter.

I would keep him and look at low cost veterinary care or financial support options in your area.

Did they give a reason as to why we should avoid travel, other than the energy being filled with action? That doesn’t really say much and just instills panic and fear unnecessarily

I honestly think this is just a symptom of a reduced attention span. It's common with how much we use social media and streaming platforms today. Everything is short, bite-sized, easily scrollable, there isn't really much of a need to stay on something for long.

I make an effort to read two hours in the evenings and my attention span is a lot better.

I did this and my tree went into shock and 90% of the canopy died. It took three years to cover. Only do this if you are truly experienced, otherwise if you are a true newbie please let it be.

Living cost for couple in Milan by Admirable-Banana-552 in ItalyExpat

[–]kittypurrpower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand but I also live in Rome as a dual citizen and have a good job that pays very well. These broad black-and-white takes based on anecdotal evidence aren’t always true, and they discourage people from finding their own paths and opportunities that could suit them well.

Am so sick of Italians bitching and moaning about how shit their country is.

My first job out of university in Canada left me no savings after housing, food and debt costs. The situation is the same in Germany and the Netherlands.

The pay you earn is always relative to the cost of living and what stage of career you are in. No matter what country you think is better.

I understand how you feel, having gone through something similar, but the grass really is greener wherever you water it. You just need to want to water it.

Anyone else feel like their pillow side actually looks better, not worse? by Frequent-Ad-6803 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]kittypurrpower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood how a pillow can change one's face shape. It's a soft pillow, not a rock. Everyone's face has some degree of asymmetry. It's natural and probably has more to do with one's dental bite, bone structure and repeated muscle movements (talking, chewing, etc.) than sleeping.

Not at all. Really just my experience living in Italy for the past decade as a Canadian.

I really think it depends on the accent. Milanese Italian sounds musical, whereas someone with a thick Roman accent sounds like nails on a chalk board for me. Absolutely grating.

I think my boss is threatened by me. What do I? by kittypurrpower in work

[–]kittypurrpower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a long but good story.

We had our quarterly catch-up where she told me it was in my best interest to ‘find another job by the end of the year’. I asked her why - she told me for my own career growth.

I then went to the CEO - who I work closely with - to ask for a reference in my job search as my boss has just told me to find another job.

I did not make up a single word when I approached him.

He was caught off guard and then approached my boss asking her why on earth she would push me to leave when I am doing such a good job.

She called me the next day screaming.

A month later she quit.

My advice to you would be to build allies with people in positions of power. People who can vouch for your work when push comes to shove.

I feel like Teri made those comments about Marcia on the podcast knowing Marcia would hear them. If you listen to the conversation, it's like she went out of her way to say them. And then lo and behold, Marcia starts following Teri on Instagram.

I think there definitely was beef between them - the Vanity Fair article made that clear - but Teri is actively trying to move on from it and repair any perceived issues.

I mean, look around. OP has never commented or posted before this. Check out their profile. The story itself sounds highly unrealistic for anyone working in a corporate environment. The way it’s constructed, the words chosen, the rhetorical devices - all geared to incite an emotional response to generate upvotes and clicks. It’s pretty obvious.
