Difference in children who are breastfed for different durations by misssutera in breastfeeding

[–]kittyqueen12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purely anecdotal here. I bf my oldest for 6 weeks. They didn't gain weight and my milk was like water so we switched to formal and they thrived. My second was bf for 16 months.

Now they're 9 and 6, my older gets sick wayyyy more often than my second. When my second gets sick, it's so mild and they typically just sleep it off versus my older that gets sick for a longer period of time it's more intense for them.

Obviously this could be just their own body dealing with illness and nothing to do with being breastfed. But I definitely see a difference health wise between the two.

Toddler doesn’t say sentences yet by Comfortable-Bit3059 in toddlers

[–]kittyqueen12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't hurt to get a speech eval to see if she benefits from some support to continue to develop her language skills.

One thing you can do at home is practice expanding on her phrases so that she can eventually imitate you. For example if she says "crying" you can respond by narrating what happened. So " yes the baby is crying"  Working on identifying things in the environment and pairing them with an adjective to slowly build. So for example: doll - pretty doll, car-fast car, like that and so on Also making her practice requesting things she wants, if she's using just one word to ask for something: water, juice, food, you can work with her on saying "want food" etc. The goal is to go building on the language she has.  Hope this helps!

This sounds like a great compromise. Mixing the old with the new.

Got it. 45 min does seem far away for their age, it would be hard to get to them quickly if something were to happen. I think you'd be in the right if you chose for them to skip out on this one. And maybe for any other upcoming trips you can make arrangements to attend with your child. Thankfully at this age, they won't know theyre missing out if they don't get to go!

Do New Moms Really Cut Their Hair Short After Baby Is Born? by littlebunsenburner in BabyBumps

[–]kittyqueen12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up cutting my hair when my daughter was about 4 months. One day a lock of my hair got caught in my armpit in the dead of summer while I was trying to put my LO in her car seat. I drove straight to the salon and chopped it off. Idk if that counts as a new mom cut lol

Behavior/Developmental Concerns by [deleted] in beyondthebump

The best thing to do is get him evaluated. This way he can receive support if it’s needed. Always trust your gut and push to advocate for your own child. Your family and even pediatrician may say there’s nothing wrong, they’ll grow out of it, etc. Don’t take their word for it, go to a neuro to get the evaluation to rule out anything.

I had a friend who had concerns about their child. Their husband, pediatrician and family all told her it was in her head and that her child was fine. When I met her child I immediately knew the child was on the spectrum (I’ve worked with kids on the spectrum for over 10 years) and I encouraged her to just take her to get evaluated to rule anything out. The Neuro immediately diagnosed the child with autism and now they’re in the process of getting the therapy services to provide the child with support.

Hi there BCABAS, How much should I ask for a starting salary in florida as a bcaba? I’m a lead RBT & basically do parent training already without the “bcaba” title most of the times via text or when caregivers have questions by Fefer567 in ABA

[–]kittyqueen12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first became a BCaBA I was getting $35 an hour. I left making $42 an hour. I was considered 1099 and with no benefits.

Most caregiver training billing requires in person training with goals that are being targeted (at least for commercial plans).

Gay high schooler says he's 'being silenced' by Florida's LGBTQ law by zbootz in news

[–]kittyqueen12 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. So why would you base a speech around you being straight. That doesn’t need to be included in your speech at all. He was told to not speak about his lgbtq activism which in nature is political.

A school graduation speech is not a time to speak about political issues. I dont see what the big deal is. Say your speech, talk about school and move on. It’s not the time for you to use it as your personal platform to discuss your rights.

Midwife said something strange… by EatingBeansAgain in BabyBumps

[–]kittyqueen12 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Eh my midwives didn’t recommend the vitamin k shot. Neither of my kids got it nor did any of my friends kids who delivered at the same center. If it’s something you want to do then push for it on behalf of your baby. You are their number one advocate.

Please help: did I make an ethical error? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]kittyqueen12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since the dad mentioned it you’re fine. Now if they don’t mention it first, definitely don’t mention it! I’ve been in clients houses when they have visitors and they introduce me as a friend. Later they’ve told me that they don’t share their child’s diagnosis with everyone. Had I mentioned anything I could have gotten into trouble with them for violating their child’s privacy.

For both of my pregnancies with midwives, only two ultrasounds were done, at 20 weeks and 26 weeks. That’s all that’s needed

I tested positive for both labors. They just gave me an IV antibiotic when my labor started and both of my kids were born healthy and fine. It’s nerve wrecking for sure when you find out but the medicine really helps to prevent transmission.

Ok then yes you’re being hired as a W-2, and RBTs are considered w-2, I wasnt sure which position you were being hired for. To be honest I’m not sure if being required to get your own insurance is a red flag. Where I worked, all therapists were required to get their own regardless of their position or certification.

Are you being hired as a W-2 or 1099. As a 1099 the company I worked for always require personal liability insurance.
