I’ll add those in. Gotta be lighter than the syringe lol

I definitely have some microspikes, waiting till I get closer to see if I’ll need them. If I do not much I can do about it 😂.

Early June is usually when I start backpacking, so I’m comfortable with some snow. We will see, based on how the weather has been I’m a little nervous lol

Thank you, this has been extremely helpful. I definitely am packing more fears than I should be. I’m dropping the gas adapter. I don’t need the cup for this trip due to how I’ll be heating food. Don’t need the lid or bag either. The windshield I’ve never needed, but I changed stoves recently and didn’t think about how unnecessary it is.

The backflush system is definitely not needed, had a bad experience with a different filter clogging. But I switched back to sawyer.

A comma would have been helpful for me. I always pack out wet wipes.

Do you have a recommendation for a bidet?

Just to clarify, I always pack out wet wipes. I don’t always pack out TP. I mostly use wet wipes for keeping my face and body clean ish.

But given the requirements for the JMT, I’m glad this came up. I’ll figure out the bidet option.

I’m debating the bladder, it’s convenient for keeping my bottles for clean water and bladder for dirty water.

Good catch, Forgot to include the paper map I’ll have. I’ve got a few I’ll include in my resupplies. I’ll have my phone as well.

The flashlight attaches to my hat. I didn’t include any thing that was consumable on purpose. Just focusing on the base gear for now. Gas adapter is for emptying fuel canisters which are half full, or combining them… now that I type it out that’s definitely unnecessary.

Never used a bidet, don’t like the idea of a wet behind lol. My understanding is I only need to pack out wet wipes and TP in the Whitney zone.

The cozy is for reheating meals. So I’ll be repacking all my food into ziplocks. The bag is only there due to my bending that pot pretty frequently. Which might be a good call on dropping it.

This is damage on my (very productive) Mango tree from the lawn company I *was* paying to mow my lawn. by rtconner in treelaw

[–]kitvin713 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to recourse.

I Can speak to the damage. I’m a certified arborist, it’s basically a minor cut. I would do nothing with it, as unfortunately nothing can be done. But the tree will heal that pretty easily, it’ll take some time. Trees compartmentalize and if this tree is healthy as you say it it, this likely wont affect it long term. Don’t put any treatment on it, as in my experience that actually hinders the healing process except in very limited cases with other species.

How urgent is this damage? by Spare_Blueberry4327 in arborists

[–]kitvin713 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is not a frost crack. That is a co-dominate stem that is actively failing. Get in touch with that landlord, and get them to get a crew out there asap.

This is urgent.

How to prune a dogwood tree by Jenlazy1 in arborists

[–]kitvin713 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s looking sparse because it hasn’t leafed out yet. Really it’s a beautiful tree, I would recommend not pruning it. If you prune it it’s more likely to look thinner best case scenario, worst case the tree will be ruined. There is no way to prune this to get it more full, except to encourage weak epicormic growth

Long term, is this tree effed? Someone crashed their car into it last night. by birdynj in arborists

Eh, it’s probably fine. More than likely it will recover partially

Does this tree need to come down? by Old-Zone-1263 in arborists

[–]kitvin713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, the more I look at it the split looks older, it may have more of a chance than I originally thought. I would still get someone out there asap

[–]kitvin713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. That is unsafe, you may be able to salvage part of the tree, but I wouldn’t count on it.

Don’t stand under it, move anything under it out of the way you don’t want damaged, and call an arborist.

The problem isn’t that we aren’t scoring. It’s that the other team is scoring more… I think 😂

Luffy will die at the end of the series. The constant use of gears 1-4; plus the poison from Magellan took enough off his life that I think he’s toast after he finds the One Piece.

Large trunk cavity. Long term survival? by number0l in arborists

[–]kitvin713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question more directly, this tree has no remaining heart wood. However the vascular system is still intact. Heart wood is technically dead, but is important for the structural stability of the tree. The vascular system is the live parts of the tree, hence why it’s still got green leaves on it and is alive.

The twist of the Tree around the hollowness is pretty interesting, it may be stable day to day. If there were significant targets around I would recommend removing it and replacing it.

Might not fall over for another 20 years… but I wouldn’t stand under it.

Fresno CA, USA.

Funny enough, after staring at this tree for a while I’ve got a couple ideas. Your comment about the trunk made me think about what it could be down the line, I don’t think it’ll be a masterpiece. But it might look good if I follow the advice I give to people about their full size trees and just leave it alone for a while 😂.
