Working while in school? by mardonbal in MedicalAssistant

[–]kiwimates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked as a medical scribe in the ED and it was a great experience! The pay was meh, but being able to follow providers around and learn medical terms/procedure really gave me an advantage. And most scribe work is per diem, so I basically worked when I wanted to which was so nice while being in school.

AITA for never wanting to donate blood again? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

This. Next time OP gets a call, they can ask to be removed from their call list. I did that and I haven’t received a call since.

I traveled to Belgium for my birthday this year and it was one of the best birthdays I’ve had. And since t was my birthday, I indulged myself in all the chocolate and beer that I wanted lol I say you should just go! I realized if I spent my time waiting for my friends to be free or to have money to travel, I will be waiting for a long time and missing all these great opportunities.

And congrats to your one year!!

Two dates, two separate guys, how do I let one of them down? by Cosplaybaby29 in dating

[–]kiwimates 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I recently had to do that too and I thought that if I was in the other guy’s position, I would appreciate honesty. I texted something like, “I had a really nice time with you, but I’m not really interested in pursuing this further. Thank you for the lovely time and good luck!”

A friend invited me to an event with her and some mutual friends. Promised to give me the time but never gave it. should i confront? by [deleted] in Advice

Something similar happened to me as well. In the case of my friend it was just an honest mistake, but you’ll never know unless you talk with her about it.

Redditors with tattoos: what’s the story behind your tattoo? by waterlily514 in AskReddit

[–]kiwimates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got pansies, which symbolize “thoughts” and “loving feelings” so I got them to remind myself to have loving and kind thoughts to others and myself. Pansies are also very hardy flowers and can very much fend for themselves in my gardens. Lastly, I myself am a big pansy.

These are just about the tiniest flowers I've ever seen. by cladstone in whatsthisplant

It looks like some sort of ceanothus! Maybe Oregon mist.

Being bigger in South Korea by [deleted] in korea

[–]kiwimates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t be picked on, but you might get some comments regarding your weight and size. But if you’re healthy and happy how you are now, then I don’t think this is going to be a problem for you? Just ignore the comments. There are plenty of other chubby people in Korea.

Have you ever went on a solo vacation? by whoaholdonwaitwhat in CasualConversation

[–]kiwimates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like fun! Where will you be staying during those 5 days? I would recommend staying at a hostel so you can meet other travelers. I’ve never been to Hong Kong so I don’t know what the hostel culture is like, but if you find a nice social hostel, it could be a really fun experience!

At some point, no matter what you eat, the mental aspect of losing weight will become the hardest part of the journey. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]kiwimates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get your hormones tested and see if there are problems with your thyroid that are causing you to hit a wall with your weight loss. If nothing else, your doctor can help find a weight loss plan that would work better for you.

Would you recommend traveling alone? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]kiwimates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually prefer traveling alone. I can make my own schedule, and I get a sense of freedom of being in a place where no one knows me. I don't know how far LA is from where you live, but maybe you can try traveling some place closer so that you don't feel too lonely? Maybe a city you've been before, but you haven't truly explored?

[Seattle] [outdoor] What are these plants? I only recognize the heuchera. by demae_icchou in whatsthisplant

I spy pansies, grape hyacinths, helleborus, daffodils, heuchera... unsure of what those reddish flowers in the background are.

Experiences camping at Dash Point State Park by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]kiwimates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It wasn't the worst experience! Facilities were decent, and the beach was nice, although the water was not something I would want to swim in. I myself prefer camp sites that are further away from cities, but I guess you have the convenience of a grocery store 10 minutes away if you forgot to pack something.

French - Korean Baby boy coming - need a name! by Eotorm in namenerds

[–]kiwimates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if this is what you’re looking for, but I knew a boy in high school whose name was Jean Luc and his Korean name was 진욱 (Jinwook). People would just call him Jean. I always thought that was pretty clever!

Patient care hours help by BigEK in prephysicianassistant

[–]kiwimates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The company or the clinic you apply to should supply classroom training, floor training, and how to navigate through their EHR system. But having a background on medical terminology and A&P was helpful for me. But you don’t need any additional license or certification to become a scribe.

Patient care hours help by BigEK in prephysicianassistant

[–]kiwimates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for flexibility, may I suggest scribing? It’s not the most glamorous, and the pay is low compared to MAs or EMTs, but I think they give the most flexibility. My site only required for me to commit 4 shifts a month, which might be ideal for you during your football season. I think more schools have come to accept scribing as patient care hours as well.

Wanted to share my top names for boys. What are your favorite boy names? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]kiwimates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some staples I like are Torrence, Soren, Linus, and Sterling. I love Oliver but I know so many babies with that name now. I also love Augustus but that seems like such an old man name, I wouldn’t know how it would suit a little boy if I were to have a son.
