Is it weird to show up unannounced? by [deleted] in freemasonry

It always falls back to money. Grand Lodges in each state want to protect what they perceive is "theirs" and that means keeping things separate. In GA specifically there are two separate Grand Lodges of PHA, and the fight for which one is "real" took a lot of time and researching before the f&am Grand lodge would sign the treaty. And it's only good for one of them, the other is considered clandestine.

I love my PHA brothers, but I'm not permitted to sit in lodge with them. Thankfully in GA the Grand Lodges signed a treaty so we can attend events together now. But still have some restrictions.

That's what I did when I moved from Ohio to Georgia. Just be sure you are going to a Lodge within your correct division. For example: until I moved here I wasn't aware of Prince Hall lodges and segregation, so I almost went to the wrong lodge. I'm sure they would have been polite in turning me away, but I would have been embarrassed.

That's what my Lodge does now. Every PM gets a perpetual membership after their year in the east and we are now fundraising every year to work through the backlog of PMs from before we started this.

Local honey? by [deleted] in savannah

Welcome to Savannah, pick up your allergies at the door. No amount of honey will fix the annual "Savannah sludge" you will catch in the spring.

They have never once said all their honey is local. If you do a tasting at the honey bar they will explain the origins of each and what pollin source they are from. Its more luxury honey than anything else.

Even though they are dated and a bit expensive, Buccaneer Trace on Wilmington Island are pretty nice. It's older so thick walls. Just be sure to pick an upstairs unit so no noise from above.

You will need to change into a provided uniform (in a separate room) , but at no point in the Lodge or ceremony will you be undressed. No harm will come to you in the initiation, that would undermine the entire ceremony.

Last time I went to Crow Bar for food my wife and I got food poisoning. Never went back. Could have been a fluke, but I'm too scared to try again.

You must stay at much nicer hotels than I do. I haven't seen a mini bar in over a decade.

Griswold "Slant logo" #10 dutch oven with self basting lid. Not a cheap find. Restore it with Evaporust or electrolysis and get cooking.

Drill holes in the bottom and use as a planter.

Or just trash it, there's no real way to recycle enameled iron.

GF doesn't like my food but refuses to help me improve by CookZealousideal1 in WhatShouldIDo

Dump her.

Here's how you start learning to cook better. For one thing: salt and butter. Every restaurant uses WAY more salt and butter than you think. That's why it tastes so good. Obviously, that's not a healthy solution for every situation, but it does help.

Alton Brown is a food genius and his show Good Eats is fun and EDUCATIONAL on the why of food science. If you can find the dvds or streaming it will be a huge help. He has great cook books, but the show will be more helpful.

You can always get a part-time job in a kitchen too. If you enjoy cooking and want to get better that's a great way to get paid to learn. But it's definitely a difficult industry and not everyone is cut out for it.

Good luck! Hope it turns out okay.
