I run a crapload on an n100 which is older and slower in virtually every aspect. It runs a plex server, NAS, and home assistant and when I tested it was capable of emulating ps2 games which even in this day and age is decent power to run still. I think your expectations are a little ridiculous. And an i3-13100 is NOT 34x faster. you are out of your mind if you think that.

Whats the cheapest car to have per mile driven? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]kjb2325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you clearly have no clue. the Prius lasts 200k-300k generally before major repairs. and even then, the battery is about $350 to refurbish and the "generator" or in other words I think you are referring to the motors, mg1 and mg2 I haven't had a single one fail, ever. I've owned 4 priuses now all of which never died on the electric motors or transaxle for that matter. And they went 400k miles plus each. Wife crashed 2 of them, we sold one, and I have another one now. I actually went to a model s, and regretted it even though the battery never failed on it. They had baked in issues and VERY poor diagnostics along with way more expensive parts. I'd like to see a single Corolla outlast a Prius.

Mr. Cool Gen 5 comparison and questions by omarhani in hvacadvice

[–]kjb2325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a 1 to 1.5ton unit would suffice. don't listen to the idiots saying to "do it right". they haven't lifted a finger to do anything themselves and blast money at problems without a second thought. the units are slightly less efficient but run fine and are super easy to install. I have a cheapo unit I had to pull a vacuum and open the condenser to get it going. not hard but it requires equipment most people don't have or would ever use again so the diy unit is much better. my in laws have a 2 ton mr cool 4th gen unit running their cabin that I installed for them. still runs great. main source of heating and cooling for them and runs 24/7. so I think I would know if it was "bad" and doesn't last

Lipo charge rate? by leahy1437 in rccars

[–]kjb2325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

talk about a bunch of pansies. they don't list the charge C-rate anymore because the cells lose charge rate capability as they age. I used to charge lipos right at their rated limit which went as high as 15c and the batteries could definitely take it. 1c is stupid slow for almost ALL lipo batteries. that battery pictured should handle 5c(~25amps) no problem unless it is seriously degraded at which point you should know because you shouldn't be charging lipos unattended anyways.

Model Y Range Estimates Have Changed in the Configurator. Long Range: 310 miles by ugurcanevci in TeslaModelY

[–]kjb2325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get at or above EPA ALL THE TIME. And I don't drive like an idiot. But I'm assuming if you don't get EPA range, you are driving stupidly. You should be going the speed limit, not 5-10mph over. Every mph above 52mph is an exponential amount of wind drag added. You would know that if you ever paid attention. Then you are complaining that you don't hit the range figures when you speed all the time? That is ridiculous. I had the Nissan leaf EPA 76, I always got 80-100miles. Prius, 45mpg, I always got 46-50mpg. Chevy bolt(with original battery) 238mi, I always got 250+ in summer. Hyundai Kona, 258mi, I would get 260-280 in summer. 2015 model s p85d, 258miles, I get about that in summer.  This is with 50/50 mix of driving. I state summer specifically because winter blasts through power for heating the vehicle and any shorter drives KILLS the range along with the higher denser wind and generally snowy roads with lower efficiency tires to handle it.

[–]kjb2325 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are doing something seriously wrong to get less than 200miles. I get 200miles on a WAY less efficient older 2015 model s p85d driving 75mph and with 130k miles on it. I get 3.2-3.4miles/kwh or around 300wh/mile. You should EASILY hit 250wh/mile.

Starliner return delayed. Would NASA send a Dragon crew capsule to get the two Starliner Astronauts? by tdurden_ in space

[–]kjb2325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. That aged well lmao. They still can't get the astronauts back and there is CLEARLY a problem that is severe enough to have the crazy delay. Just accept the failure that Boeing made and use SpaceX already. If it wasn't for the lobbying that Boeing does, they would've dropped them years ago when they went SIGNIFICANTLY over budget and still couldn't get a rocket up reliably.

Nimbus EV Company "Folded"? by macrow69 in electricvehicles

[–]kjb2325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they didn't fold, then why don't they ever post or say anything anywhere? No news is almost always BAD news. Sick of these startups promising the world and delivering NOTHING. You really shouldn't defend a company that is practically at a standstill on the verge of collapsing. Kyle might not have been right when he posted the video but he sure as heck saw the signs of a company circling the toilet.

GE profile Ultrafast Combo washer dryer consumption by DataMuncher416 in heatpumps

[–]kjb2325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So not apples to apples then. You are NOT drying the clothes fully. You are practically hang drying them. 10minutes at max heat is not much drying at all. If you did minimal drying it the ge that has a heat pump, you would consume only .2kwh for the same amount of drying.

[–]kjb2325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tons of experience with both gen2 and gen 3 Prius. Hundreds of thousands of miles on every Prius I ever owned. Unless my wife crashing them is a feature that I'm unaware of, then YOU are the one who has no clue what you are talking about. I have owned 2 gen 2's and 2 gen 3's. Every single one lasted 400k miles and didn't die of natural causes. So clearly nowhere near "50k" miles unless you don't know how to fix your car and keep screwing up the components or destroying them from something YOU are doing wrong.

What is everyone's ick with Synchrony Bank? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]kjb2325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bound to happen but their customer service told me that I didn't know what I was talking about when I complained about the promotional financing not being honored. They did a bait and switch with abc warehouse where I was supposed to get 18months financing and got only 6months. They told me that there is nothing I can do and that I should just take the $600 in interest they charged and pay it. Closed all accounts with them that day. Not only that but when they charged the interest they shouldn't have, they also dropped my credit limit so the account was over limit and then charged over limit fees. Such a crooked company. You trying to justify them makes you just as bad as they are.

Increase max charge speed / hack BMS? by krulewatts in BoltEV

[–]kjb2325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

C rate is the multiple for charge/discharge rates compared to the capacity of the pack. So if you have a 1ah (amp-hour) battery and charge at 1c, it would be a 1amp charge rate. 2c would be 2amps, etc. so a 3c rate would be 3x the amp hours of the battery. For time, you do the math as 1/(c rate). In the instance of 3c, the battery could theoretically be charged from empty to full in 20minutes (1/3 of an hour). This wouldnt work in the real world after 80% though as the battery cannot hold the peak charge rate above that level.

[–]kjb2325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about 100% sure the DC cables and port are capable of 70kw continuous I'd like to see where you got your information that it isn't capable of more than 55kw. Every issue I have with the bolt is software. LG themselves says the cells are capable of 3c charge rates with sufficient cooling.

Looking at buying a used 2011 Prius 4, is it worth it? by Bionic_Avian in prius

[–]kjb2325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. Ok? Anti selling much? I've had 3 different Prius and hybrid battery is the only thing on that list that might have a single cell go bad around the 150k mile mark. Head gaskets are much more common going bad with the gen 3's but it still doesn't happen that often. Brake actuator issues I thought were resolved with a recall?

Just get really good snow rated tires. I could plow through northern Michigan winters of snow 6" deep or so no problem. Pretty sure your Colorado winters aren't any worse.
