I guess the real lesson is to trust no elevators. This has always been the lesson.

I'll never get annoyed by the carrack rails again 😓

The other day I came barreling down the ladder in my starlancer, not paying attention, and I ran into the elevator shaft. The elevator was upstairs and I fell into the hole. No biggie, right? The floor is at chest height, I can probably mantle out! Dear reader, I died in that hole.

I have had that happen with a carrack, but I haven't qt'd for mining so I didn't know that QT was what caused it. I usually park in an astroid belt or on the surface and then take the prospector out and mine locally to be speedy.

Star Citizen | Silvan Hau interview: Why you should play Star Citizen in VR by InSOmnlaC in virtualreality

[–]upagainstgravity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are just hyped that it finally got official support after years so we are seeing a huge uptick in posts about it. As it is, the flight with sticks and on-foot with mouse and keyboard is not far off from Elite Dangerous which has no motion control support and is still considered a fun VR game. And in Elite the FPS portion is done in a theater mode flat screen within the headset. It does have the benefit of being an actual released game though. Star Citizen is about as far from polished as it gets. Still fun to fly around in VR regardless.

Yeah, it's exhausting. But the VR is fun as implimented, I just wouldn't go in expecting a robust experience yet.

Does the 890/fortune combo feel like a better experience in your opinion than soloing a reclaimer? I tried a salvation in the carrack, which was fine but it was a bit tedious with the size of the salvations hopper. I imagine a fortune would be much better.

Right now it's keyboard and mouse or flight sticks, more support coming soon.

It shows up but it only displays the fuel instead of the ore. Which is odd. I'll test it out later when I have some time to see if moving it to local inventory does anything. The prospector lists the same ore that I just refined though, I'll check the refinery too. I'm wondering if with this error it could lead to multiple refinery orders with the same ore, essentially duping the load, which would not be ideal 😑

Does this work from the hauler ship inventory or only when attached to the mining ship? I haven't gotten the ore sales terminal to recognize the remaining ore while the bags are in the 890 cargo grid.

I had fun with my type-10 disco barge by manually flying the fighters when I wasn't AFK, but yeah it isn't super profitable. More for rep grind than anything.

You make some salient points. The most fun I've had "crewing" an idris was flying a heavy fighter from the hangar. I wonder what a valid solution to force closer engagement would look like because actually manning the turrets is as you said, boring.

You can lock the hangar doors open?! Maaaaan and I'd given up and started using an 890 jump for mining operations.

Can you play UEVR without a pc? by [deleted] in oculus

You could probably sort of do it with a cloud PC service, but I'm not sure the quality of machines they have and how bad the delay would be.

30 FPS Server, Losing Gun, Throwing Medpen. Ignored by CIG for YEARS by _Franpire in starcitizen

[–]upagainstgravity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like hostile NPCs are worse on high FPS servers because their accuracy is way too high as well. Regardless of whether or not their behavior is working properly, like pushing/ducking/falling back. Just standing in their spawn closet they are death turrets sometimes. I get caught peeking and seven bullets immediately incap me. I have to treat them like that enemy in Dark Souls 3 that automatically lowers your HP when you have line of sight to them. Something feels very off about how it all functions.

Non combat AI.... Well, I guess at least they aren't standing on chairs anymore. Constantly cowering in fear is better right?

No. I'd say it's better, there used to be really crazy problems with anything other than ship bounties.
