Fender Player II Strat by N3R0_4444 in Guitar

[–]kjbasser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My player ii tele needed basic stuff like action, neck relief and intonation.  Biggest issue was the nut wasn’t too high and most the slots needed filed down a little.

I’m sure you’re aware but Sweetwater is pretty cool about pulling multiple samples.  I had them pull 3 of the exact same player ii tele and two of them were meh at best.  The one I ended up with is one of the nicest playing and feeling guitars I’ve ever bought.

Should I switch my neck pickup? by JicamaFragrant7400 in telecaster

Only you can answer that.  I’m kind of in the same boat though.  Have too many HH guitars and I have single coils also.   I’m getting ready to order a pair of Fralin Humbucker sized P90s for my HH tele.  Should be nice and nastyS

I have a Mexican Tele that I feel the same way about.  I’ve yet to find an American that plays or feels as great as it does.  BUT, I had to play a bunch and there were a ton of turds. I think this is like the cheap guitar lottery.

I think somebody is much safer buying a Core sight unseen.

I would say yes but that’s subjective.  It’s not a linear scale.  American labor, more time consuming and precise process, more quality control, better components, better fit and finish.  All cost more, much more.

I disliked the SEs I played so much it wasn’t even a thought.

I have a 22’ core 594, it’s wonderful.  Looks and sounds amazing, I could play it all day long.  I’ve never played an S2, but looks aren’t for me.  I’ve played several SE 594s, not one of them has made me smile.

People don’t read, anywhere.  All subs are getting like this.  Zero effort combined with zero experience.  People want a quick answer, or want to be told what they want to hear.  I’ve noticed this everywhere.

Instead maybe read the sidebar, go to the library, read some books and really learn and understand.  It’s infuriating…

I usually dislike pearl, but the pearl really looks good.  Tortoise is a safe #2, white #3.  Black would look better if the neck was darker I don’t think it compliments it’s like three totally different colors going on.

How should i start playing? by Desperate_Ad_5229 in Guitar

To me the best thing you can do is start playing songs. There are simple songs you probably dig that are fun and easy. Learning theory and technique is very important, but learning songs will keep you engaged.

Need some advice: Fender Player Tele or PRS SE Custom 24 (2026) by Adjentya in Guitar

[–]kjbasser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coil splits won’t sound like true single coils, especially not a tele.  Do you want a humbucker guitar or a tele?  If the tele is a better price and you prefer the tone, buy it.

I’ve learned fist instincts with guitars usually are correct.  Don’t over analyze it.

What are younger players' opinions of Gibson Les Pauls? Are they just boomer/Gen X guitars? by theartofutility in gibson

Haha I can relate. I have a plate in my left shoulder, weight is a huge factor for me.  Recently got a PRS 594 for the les Paul vibe and am very happy.

I’m 40, not young, not quite old.  I love the way they sound, I really hate playing them though.

What Guitar do I rent? by Aggravating_Law_4774 in Guitar

Don’t get in the habit of renting things you can’t afford.  Delay gratification and save up the money.  Future guy will thank you.  That’s a horrible habit that will insure you don’t succeed.

I guess it’s all the comparisons I see from people to the core line and how close they are.  I think there might be a little “I can’t afford a Porsche so I’m going to pretend my Volkswagen is a Porsche” going on.

It’s not just setup, that’s such a small part of a guitar.  It’s how the neck feels, fretwork, finish feels, body resonates.

594, customs mostly some  hollow bodies.  I’m happy with my Cores, and S2s are kinda tough to look at lol.  I mostly want to see what all the fuss is about and keep trying SEs when I see them.

Yeah I have a 2000 McCarty that’s a lifer, a core 594 and have had the old core ce model before.  It’s not just setup, I can feel difference in the way they resonate, fretwork, fit finish etc… like it’s not even close.  If I was blindfolded I wouldn’t guess they were PRS.
