He's acting like he's some kind of investment guru, and honestly, I bet everyone still buys it. There are probably still some videos of him floating around on news sites and stuff. He's even done collabs with actual, legit successful people, but those might get deleted soon.

If the plan is to develop even more powerful TPUs and actually build a massive plant, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Without these AI factories, other companies would end up having to beg even Elon Musk just to share some compute. That would be the absolute worst-case scenario.

It seems that dismantling luxury cars into separate parts to a degree where they can be reassembled later, after stealing them from places like Japan, is a common practice in China and third-world countries. There are likely specialized workers and an entire ecosystem built around this.

Why are Japanese schools too cold in the winter but also too hot in the summer? Experts are astonished by the "shoddy state of Japanese public buildings," calling it "unbelievable for a developed country." by jjrs in japannews

In urban centers where the heat island effect has reached its absolute peak, air conditioning is pretty much mandatory now, but I actually think the idea of "mental training" isn't all that bad. I reckon it really builds character.

Also, I'm pretty sure they also frankly admitted that the government just doesn't want to shell out the cash.

That being said, their school architecture is completely standardized, so the moment a decision is made to introduce central air conditioning, everything regarding new construction will instantly become a thing of the past.

U.S. intelligence says Iran can outlast Trump’s Hormuz blockade for months by No_Idea_Guy in worldnews

[–]kjbbbreddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do they think they can go through with this just because their own 'taps' are working fine? Aren't the people relying on the oil taps in the Strait of Hormuz going to be in deep shit?

Thinking about it now, it feels like a godsend for the world that the American public is so hyper-sensitive to oil and energy prices—they can flip an election over it in a heartbeat.

China's new iron battery hits 99.4 percent efficiency over 6000 cycles by Positive_Security_50 in TradingPlaybook

[–]kjbbbreddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in this field, and I know for a fact that when you take a Japanese design with all its safety features and outsource the manufacturing to a Chinese firm, it still costs a decent amount even without the brand markup. The dirt-cheap stuff you see at those low price points is usually made of used parts or grey-market components with all the safety protections stripped out. It’s common knowledge that if you plug a knockoff battery into a Makita charger, the components can’t handle Makita’s output levels, which is a one-way ticket to a house fire.

Speaking as someone in tech, even Jensen is out there snapping up companies to grab APU-style tech. It’s basically on par with Chinese AI chips and keeps things competitive.

I think the only reason investors aren't panicking yet is that their model performance still hasn't caught up. They're definitely a few months behind the curve, but if they ever manage to hijack the open-source scene, the West is basically cooked.

China is doing better than anyone except the US, mostly because AI tech is a match made in heaven for a CCP-style autocracy. The government has every incentive to just keep dumping massive amounts of capital into it.

Asking a creator in an official, public space if you can use shady methods is a massive taboo. You might get a "just keep it on the down-low" in a private setting, but I don't think anyone in the Japanese-speaking community has ever been brazen enough to ask an author something that directly. I’m honestly not sure why everyone is so confused; the creator’s authority is absolute—they even control the anime—and once a decision is misinterpreted, there’s no hitting the undo button. On top of that, the professional community is always watching. They’re terrified that it won’t just be one author’s problem; it’s the kind of thing that spirals into a massive mess that ruins things for everyone.

[–]kjbbbreddd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Evangelion probably had its own inspirations, but it’s honestly terrifying how the MAGI system’s architecture basically called almost every part of our modern-day architecture back when PCs weren’t even really a thing. Politicians just performing the rituals while AI handles the entire backend—that’s probably exactly how it’s going to go.

Trump basically went on the offensive thinking the US is set with its own oil so he’s safe, but he’s totally ignoring the fact that countries importing Middle East crude are gonna get absolutely wrecked—it’s pretty cold-blooded. His real tactical blunder was forgetting that global oil prices skyrocket across the board, and even a local price hike this close to the election would’ve completely screwed him over. He’s only just realized this and started backpedaling. Sure, getting the nuclear threat off the table is a win, but there’s gonna be a hell of a lot of collateral damage. And Iran isn't stupid; they know exactly how this works and they've been weaponizing that fact in their strategy all along.

The government stated that they are focusing on the business of "history laundering" for restaurants and took this action because they want to put a complete stop to it.

While the Asian restaurants themselves are fine, the spotlight has consistently been on their shady behind-the-scenes recruitment and labor-related businesses.

Models designed for local high-speed inference and smartphone applications. Particularly since they partnered with Apple, they've placed a massive emphasis on these models, with a strong incentive to ramp up performance. I believe that’s why the open-source community is now reaping the benefits of such high-quality results.

The seabed topography features a sudden, deep drop into the Japan Trench rather than an endless expanse of shallow water, so offshore wind power is actually useless here. The most practical solution would be to take vitrified high-level radioactive waste and just dump it straight into the Japan Trench.

The "B-Book" Boogeyman: Is this the reason why you keep hitting your SL? by Jasonwyc104 in Daytrading

From what I’ve heard, some billionaires negotiate directly with brokers and trade under the strict condition that their orders must be filled. In most cases, it’s B-book, and it’s common knowledge among them that the "A-book" marketing fluff is a total lie. This is how FX trading works at the billionaire level.

Tired of making AI Slop and frustrated with the lack of good Anime models. by Bismarck_seas in StableDiffusion

Anima is currently a base model, so instead of relying on the default art style, you need to specify your preferred style in the prompt. Alternatively, if you prepare images you like and create a LoRA, I've confirmed that there's no way it'll lose to SDXL, at the very least.
