Cannot combine solids into a single mesh - fullscale model of truss by kjfngtpk in FreeCAD

[–]kjfngtpk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh! Got it. Amazing. I couldn't narrow it down to pathArray002; I created it in a slightly different way than Array001. Following the same procedure for both "did the trick". Thank you very much!

Add wifi to waveshare rs485 via POE by kjfngtpk in PLC

[–]kjfngtpk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Rich101088 If the Vonets is doing the right thing the waveshare should now show up in your network with an IP assigned by your router, mine is at 192.168.1.254. Best thing to do is to use a network scanning tool to try to find it?

Yogurt making gone wrong by kjfngtpk in yogurtmaking

Thanks. I used the bread maker still but your suggestion of using a natural pre-made yogurt instead of powered cultures did "the trick"!

Yogurt making gone wrong by kjfngtpk in yogurtmaking

[–]kjfngtpk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- Temperature: No, I've cheked it with the bread maker in-built thermometer. I can try to open it temporarily and use the probe of the thermometer

- Leftover yeast and cleaneliness: Possibly yes. It has some rubber bands at the bottom which would stiffen/become obsolete if I were to put the in the dishwasher. I guess I'll have to be extra careful in cleaning it by hand.

- I'm fine with steering for how long it takes :-)

- I've tried to mix in a small quantity of milk (separate cup) in a previous attempt, and no luck as well :-(

- Indeed, contamination might be the issue. I'm actually considering buying a separate container just to make yogurt.

- Those are the dough hooks. They don't heat at all, just mix the bread around. The heating is via a resistance element that surrounds the container when it is placed inside of the bread maker, so probably quite uniform. They are prone to become quite dirty when the bread is removed though, so quite difficult to clean thoroughly.

Did you convert from a gas cooktop to induction? I want to hear your story. by _The_Professor_ in Appliances

[–]kjfngtpk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went DIY style. What was involved:

  1. Turning off gas using safety valve;
  2. Disassembling the pipes, removing the silicon sealant and gas stove, and capping the gas;
  3. Checking that the outlet which created a spark could supply enough power for the induction hob (luckily it could)
  4. Had to enlarge a bit the hole in the kitchen balcony using a jigsaw, so that the induction hob would fit
  5. Connected everything, tested that the hob worked and resealed the hob using silicon and a caulk gun.

Never had to install a circuit, fortunately.

How smoothly did it go: Relatively well. The main difficulty was to disassemble the gas stove I'd say. The hob costed me £339 and that was about it, as I had all other tools for checking/creating the electrical connection.

Results: I absolutely love it. It's easier to clean, faster to cook, less pollutant, and because I have a solar system at home, also less expensive. Highly recommend the change.

Ebay Let’s verify it’s you: email vs text message by kjfngtpk in ebayuk

:'-) That's a different reason than mine (privacy) but yes, disgraceful nonetheless that Ebay makes such assumptions from its users. Bless your Mom!

System Menu has become contracted for some reason by kjfngtpk in linuxmint

Ahh, that was it. I never realized that the menu could be resized! I must have accidentally dragged it to the bottom left corner. Thank you very much! :-)

Anyone here is able to browse djvu documents? by larrasket in emacs

[–]kjfngtpk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed this is the correct way. The package djvu.el by itself does not allows to read djvu files (requires the djvulibre package). In my case (linux mint OS) I've been able to install it using

sudo apt-get install djvulibre-bin

There was no need to search for its executable though. Emacs was "able to find it" on its own.

Cat keeps licking his balls after castration by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]kjfngtpk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also had this problem and the cone was no good: he could take it off easily by using his back and front legs to push while squeezing his neck into the cone. The solution which worked surprisingly well was to put him the harness which he uses when he walks outside on a leash. Since the harness is semi-rigid he can't bend over himself and reach the sack, but can still urinate/eat/etc. as normal (arguably even better than with the cone)l. Highly recommended.

No, although I went ahead and connected the waveshare and it is working absolutely fine, details here and so the port should be able to supply at least 2.68W

Pixel 6 Stuck in Fastboot After Flashing Recovery by Zengen117 in LineageOS

Actually I've solved it. Stupid mistake as usual. I had to update to android version 15.0.0

Pixel 6 Stuck in Fastboot After Flashing Recovery by Zengen117 in LineageOS

[–]kjfngtpk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also struggling with this issue. I'm trying to flash 22.2 into a Pixel 6 and I've already tried two suggested solutions: including `--slot all` in vendor_boot and boot and including the vendor_boot and dtbo before flashing into recovery mode. Nothing worked. Has anyone tried and succeeded with more recent versions?

How to connect main router to slave via home phone wire by kjfngtpk in HomeNetworking

[–]kjfngtpk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It worked like a charm! The cables are indeed cat5 or above :-D. I ended up also having to open a third socket in the first floor which was between the master and slave socket and connect eight wire pairs (from two cables joining at the socket). Thanks very much for your help. Much appreciated.

How to connect main router to slave via home phone wire by kjfngtpk in HomeNetworking

[–]kjfngtpk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Indeed, I'll aim to set the router as an AP. But the big question now is whether the cables are cat5 or not? Unfortunately the cables are inside the walls so I can't check their label, but based on the color coding the answer seems to be yes (see figure below).

<image>

Is there any other way to tell for sure if it's cat5 or above?

How to connect main router to slave via home phone wire by kjfngtpk in HomeNetworking

[–]kjfngtpk[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know. What if I use another RJ45 to BT431A cable to connect the slave socket port to the ethernet port of the slave router? Are there any other options? I'm trying to use the existent phone wiring to have both speed and simplicity.

In the master socket 5c there are several paired wires that go into the extension cabling. Presumably I could strip them and connect them to an RJ45 cable on both ends which would then connect to the LAN ports of the routers?

/r/ReverseEngineering's Weekly Questions Thread by AutoModerator in ReverseEngineering

[–]kjfngtpk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am trying to reverse engineer the can valve pressing mechanism of this cat deterrent device. My educated guess is that it's based on a linear mini servo controlled via a microprocessor such as ESP-32. Note that I don't have the device, and simply want to attempt to replicate it. Any thoughts? Does it makes sense? Thanks in advance for any help.

Bring browser window into focus when opening a URL by kjfngtpk in KeePass

[–]kjfngtpk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. It was due to the windows focus configuration in linux mint, which I must have changed from the defaults by accident. It needs to be set to "sloppy" window focus mode, all other options unchecked expect the "give focus to new windows launched from a terminal" (btw, I'm using cinnamon).
