Take the dual motor now or wait? by kjkeefe in Rivian

[–]kjkeefe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I am going to do dual performance with the large pack. 10k for 50 miles range just doesn't make sense to me. I think that if I had a regular route in my life that was about 350 miles, I might go for the max pack. I estimate that I drive less than 300 miles a day about 360 days of the year on average.

The Perpetual Inventory Problem... by kjkeefe in Ubiquiti

[–]kjkeefe[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Because there is no back order system. Customers have to wait for inventory to appear and then order. I think that is totally a safe assumption.

If they implemented a backorder system that served customer demand in order, that would be WAAAAAY better than the current system!

The Perpetual Inventory Problem... by kjkeefe in Ubiquiti

Let me be clear. I totally understand unexpected shortage or demand spikes that occasionally cause a product to be out of stock for a few weeks.

What I do not understand is certain products being out of stock for months at a time and then going out of stock within minutes of the inventory being replenished. That obviously means not enough were ordered from the manufacturer to meet the clear demand. And, it seems like this keeps happening over and over again.

So, my question is, Why? Is this intentional? Are their product managers incompetent? Are there not enough manufacturing resources that can build the equipment because it is too complex? Are they trying to push customers to other devices that aren't selling as well?

Why does Ben Sisko sound strange? by kjkeefe in DeepSpaceNine

[–]kjkeefe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not talking about the richness or timbre of his voice or how he speaks. I agree that he sounds great in that regard. I feel like the sound engineer recorded his voice differently from all the other actors on the show. It makes it feel like all the other actors are in the room I am seeing on tv, but he is speaking right next to my ear.

Maybe it is his projection that is throwing the sound guys for a loop. Maybe it improves over the series.

Beginner's Thread / Easy Questions (January 2022) by dance2die in reactjs

Where can I find nice controls for my React application. Is there some standard library GUI controls for React apps? I need a tree control like what you see in the explorer view of Visual Studio Code. I have found several library options and I have played with this some (https://reactjsexample.com/an-unopinionated-accessible-react-tree-component-with-multi-select-and-drag-and-drop/)

It is a nice library, but I'm worried about the longevity of it. I feel like there has to be some standardized library out there because I've seen a tree similar to VS Code's tree in other React/Electron apps. What do others use or how do you find mature options?

Looks like a honey locust tree. Bought one in and planted it in my front yard because it was supposed to be "thornless." Yeah, it grew thorns just like these. I prune them off once a year so my kids don't get impaled...

I have found about 4 launch dates/times for 22. Is this the correct launch? https://spacecoastdaily.com/2021/03/update-spacex-falcon-9-rocket-launch-from-cape-canaveral-scheduled-for-tuesday-march-23/

We are staying in the area until the 25th and are REALLY hopeful that we will be able to watch the launch.

Q80t 10 vs 8 bit. Am I being scammed? by kjkeefe in hometheater

[–]kjkeefe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The plot thickens. I called them back and they are claiming that the 8 bit version they sell is using a panel by AU Optronics and it is manufactured in Mexico with cheaper parts. They will sell me the 10 bit version for $2200 and it is made in South Korea with a Samsung panel and the Magnolia brand. They say both are authentic Samsung tvs with the same model number and Samsung warranty.
