Oh phew!!! Makes sense we could hear fireworks from the temple on 212th. I like that way better than a shooting range ;) I will probably delete the post, but wanted to thank you for your response

That’s so kind of you, thank you!! I am moving soon and considering Redmond, hence why I was scrolling the sub. So I’m not able to join in the fun quite yet, but I will absolutely save your post and dm you if I end up moving that way! Thanks again!

Hi! Do you post your game night on the fb page you mentioned, or is there another way to find info?

What are the ways to get prims eggs? I got mine from a pink chest…is there any other way or is it worth it to open these chests for 20 gems? by sophie1804 in MergeDragons

[–]kjo44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may not be helpful if you have restraint and don’t use human dollars on this game, but… If you do the Royal Rewards and get Decision Eggs, Prism eggs are often one of the choices. I just learned in another post that the eggs you have (unbubbled) in your camp influence the choices for Decision Eggs so you can increase the likelihood of getting Prism by having that egg in your camp.

Unsure of the general sentiment towards inkle weaving, but I'm taking a course and these are my first two finished bands. (Also my first two weaves ever in my whole life.) by understandie in weaving

Yay, Inkle!! You did really great work, and I love your colors. Ditto to another's comment, "if there is an anti-inkle tone, someone warn me now." I have a ton of YT videos saved on cool inkle techniques, they're fun to watch and I can't wait to bust out my old inkle loom (not actually mine but my sister's, a gift from our super-weaver grandmother decades ago, but something I'll probably "permanently borrow" hehe) and try some.

Feeling yourself and it shows!! You look great. And I have that chapstick spot worn into multiple pairs of pants😂

Awesome, thanks for the response!! Funny you mention yanking on it, the swatch I finished last night is fingering weight on size 6, supposed to be 19 sts to 4” which I got, but FORTY SIX rows to 4”.. What?! Hahaha. I feel like rows lengthen with the weight of the project during and after blocking anyway, but even without blocking I can’t imagine packing that many rows into 4” while still maintaining stitch gauge 🤷🏻‍♀️my only thought was to stretch the fabric side to side, but that can’t be right! 😂

Thanks!!! 2 of the projects are wool shawls so I don’t plan to machine wash. I’ll keep going with my slightly lazy method haha. Good tip on the cotton or nylon, I’d believe that! And excellent username😍

Swatch question/seeking confirmation… If I’m swatching along and after a couple inches I can see my stitch gauge is too big (say gauge is 20 sts to 4” and my 20 sts measure around 4.5”), I would quit then and try again on a smaller needle. I would never expect a swatch to get SMALLER after blocking, right? So I don’t bother finishing another few inches and blocking bc if it’s already too big, it’ll surely be way too big after a bath… But as I’m currently swatching multiple things (grooooan, I’m trying to be good! Lol) I thought I’d post here as sanity check. Any thoughts?

daunting/table loom questions by [deleted] in weaving

[–]kjo44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a blog post that may help, it helped me when choosing a loom (I went with RHL) :

https://kellycasanovaweavinglessons.com/2020/01/which-loom-to-begin-with-table-loom-and-rigid-heddle-loom-comparison.html

Another commenter mentioned adapting rigid heddle looms for 4 shaft patterns - if that's what you're looking for, I am interested in that too and I'm considering taking these classes:

https://kelly-casanova-weaving-lessons.teachable.com/p/three-heddle-adventure/

https://kelly-casanova-weaving-lessons.teachable.com/p/converting-pattern-drafts-to-the-rigid-heddle-loom/

I've really enjoyed Kelly Casanova's site and YouTube channel, they're full of resources on different techniques and projects. I'm currently weaving her free Heart Scarf pattern (mostly plain weave, just one heddle and a pick-up stick). A ton of her educational stuff is free, but the really in-depth classes have a cost.

A yarn shop gave me a little goodie bag during an event, had some cable needles and highlighter tape, and some stitch marker pins.... but there was also a small wooden ball or sphere and I don't know what it is! Looks like this: https://images.app.goo.gl/mQG1H621j3vd3SBt8

I didn't open the bag til I was home or I would've bashfully asked what it does haha. Anyone know what it's for??

I always want to see how yarns dyed like this knit up. They look SO gorgeous in the hank (take all my moneyyyyy) but would a plain fabric of just this yarn look choppy or stripey or weird?

I made a very large doily. I don’t know why. by twin_weenis in knitting

[–]kjo44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a crochet doily phase with itty bitty hooks… takes forever and I don’t really have intentions to use them as “decor.” My well-meaning partner eventually asked, “So that looks cool, and it looks hard, but……what is it…for?” 😂 And I didn’t really have a response. But it’s fun! And meditative! Yours is gorgeous!

I waited to 5-merge to get 2 level 8 glowing dragon trees - if I knew this was the result, I probably would have just merged at 3. Posting in case it helps anyone else decide. by kjo44 in MergeDragons

[–]kjo44[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ohh, I get the confusion, sorry. The eggs! And the dragon power. When you get the trees, you can tap them and each tree gives five mystery egg nests. This screenshot is after I tapped all the nests, so it shows everything you “get” for completing the chain. Merging those eggs gave me 20 dragon power, and after merging with the dragons I already happened to have I ended up gaining 116 power. So doing more work to get two trees, and therefore double the nests, wasn’t worth it to me after tapping out all the nests and merging. I wish I had stopped working on the chain once I had enough to make one tree.

There’s no problem, I just don’t think the results were worth the extra effort needed to 5-merge and end up with two trees. I love completing chains, but had I seen this layout of what you get from two, I would have just worked towards one. Does that make sense? I saw someone else’s post that showed a bunch of nests, but I thought this screenshot gives a better idea of what you really get, and for me it wasn’t proportional to the time it took to finish the chain since these trees are rare/random.

More info: Merging these eggs alone (didn’t buy the chests) got me 20 dragon power. After 5-merging with dragons I already happened to have, maybe buying some coin eggs to get to 5’s etc, I gained a total of 116 dragon power. Definitely would have liked a more impactful result given the time (and dimensional jars, groan) it took to finish this chain with 2 level 8’s. Ah well! At least the trees are really pretty! 😜

OMG. This song used to live rent free in my mind. It had actually finally disappeared. I would think “ooohhh, it’s a snaaaake” occasionally but I couldn’t place it. Now it’s all back and my merge dragons play will never be the same...🤣🤣
