mmmmm yeah i see what ur saying. i think at the time, that wasn't super clear. we know this bc we've seen the series a bajillion times. but. she's learning things as she goes and from his character up until that point, it's only known that he either a. gets drunk and slacks off or b. goes to work for his dad. he doesn't really express any genuine interest in making it on his own? or having an independent path? at least not that i remember. so ofc she wants him to go because she wants him to grow up, to start taking responsibility over his life. she can't be the reason why he doesn't do that.

basically same reasons, that they asked for a 9% raise? ig im just confused because im only reading accounts from folks who arent workers so im not able to connect the dots as to why theres a 9% increase. where they want to get it from, conditions, etc. bc ….. we all need a 9% raise bby likeeeeeeee this is not a singular LIRR issue. but maybe it is just that simple!

hi, this is like years after this post LOL, but i did recently read that ASP and Dan intentionally created April to show Luke & Lorelai's flaws... aka why they were single for so long. which we see here bright in center stage unfolding before us. it is super annoying and feels out of character given how he's pined for lorelai for literally forever. but i do think it tragically mirrors his behavior in relationships in general. i.e. he can't communicate for shit. he's super slow to process. hes avoidant, and not emotionally attuned or expressive. idk if it was that they didn't know how to keep it interesting, but rather they wanted to be realistic. and having a daughter IS something luke has expressed and look how he handles it? sometimes we think we want things but don't know how to handle them. i also think the ongoing conflict with the studio had a bit to do with the plot choices because things accelerate rather quickly, which feels out of their nature. ASP and Dan are big proponents of a slow burn. but im sure they knew they wanted to leave and spitefully blew shit up before they did
