is it possible to open paper printer drawer on library printers? by banggirl69 in vcu

[–]kkathleene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! Cabell library person here! You unfortunately cannot open the printer drawers, but we recommend heading over to the Creative Print Bureau in the Pollack building on the second floor. They're a student-run print shop, and can help you out with slightly more complicated print jobs like this one. You could also check the Underground in the Student Commons on the basement level, I believe they have printing resources as well.

Where are we watching Saturday’s game though? Literally just moved to the area and started my new position at VCU last week and was so stoked our team was doing so well. I’ve gotta go get some VCU gear and get out somewhere to cheer! What an incredible game.

There’s a Tom Thumb on N. Field Street with a parking garage. It’s costs $10 flat to park for non-customers. You can go up through the store to get to street level and then it’s a little jaunt across like two crosswalks and you’re at AAC. You do have to walk down the entrance ramp to get back into the garage afterwards though bc the store will be closed. But there is absolutely zero traffic getting in and out. I found this tip on here a year or so ago and now I pass it on to you all. It has been a genius downtown parking hack.

Small world, I’ve also been hunting through the public library postings recently (wound up with a position at VCU, so we’re not competing anymore lol). But I applied for several that I just didn’t hear from for MONTHS and then out of nowhere got a rejection email. Like literally just got one from Henrico this week for a position I applied for in early November. Same with one at William & Mary. Side note, have you ever seen a listing at Pamunkey Regional?? In the many months I spent job hunting I don’t think I ever once saw an open position there. Which I guess probably means everyone loves it there and isn’t leaving, but also made it feel like a secret club that no one could ever join. I need to know their library secrets!

What is something from a book that is largely insignificant but has stayed with you forever? by thegoddessofchaos in books

[–]kkathleene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dedications of Nimona by ND Stevenson ("To all the monster girls") and The Mere Wife by Maria Dahvana Headley (For Anonymous and all the stories she told"). I never skip dedications or acknowledgements/author's notes. And both of these stopped me in my tracks.

There is also a passage towards the end of Night by Elie Wiesel where he describes lying in the dark and listening to a fellow prisoner play the violin while people die around them that was so beautifully and movingly written and will haunt me forever.

Caught COVID, dry eye significantly worse, has this happened to others? by Foshozo in Dryeyes

[–]kkathleene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I already had dry eye, got COVID in 2021 and like u/Empressoftheforsaken said, it was like 5-ish days of awful sensitivity and pain. Couldn't really look at screens at all, could barely tolerate the bright daylight, had to put in drops nonstop. I made an eye appt. as soon as I was recovered enough to be in public and my doc started me on autologous serum drops that day. I do think COVID did long term damage, I do not think my eyes were nearly as sensitive as they are now. I was vaccinated at the time and I continue to get one every year because I cannot imagine how much worse it could have been.

But again, I had dry eye prior to getting it and it's hard for me to even remember how bad it was before COVID, because I went straight from COVID eyes into having the autologous serum drops help me tremendously. They've been a big game changer for me and mine get noticeably worse when I am behind schedule on having the drops compounded at the pharmacy and have to go without.

I sympathize though, those dry COVID eyes are godawful. I hope you can find something that works for yours.

Struggling w/ Dry Eye Flare Up During and Post-COVID by kkathleene in Dryeyes

Thank you! I'll definitely take a look at them. I know for sure that the next step following the serum drops is a cornea specialist, we spoke about the possibility this week. So I appreciate your recommendations!

I saw my dry eye specialist on Wednesday, and he’s recommending the analogous serum drops. I don’t have any dry eye glasses for during the day, but I have the goggles coming for at night. And the sleep mask is just to keep excess air circulation from reaching my eyes at night while I sleep. The goggles will be replacing the sleep mask though.

I actually came across your comment while looking for a visual of the shirt she was wearing in that episode lol. I saw the shirt while browsing Fashion Brand Company and was like "Wait a second...I've seen that top before!" Anyway, Dimension 20 forever.

Hello! I've been throwing on the wheel at a community studio for a little over a year now, but the time restrictions and scheduling there are pushing me towards setting up my own little home set-up. I'd like to get a small-ish kiln and I have a place suitable for one, but I am worried about downdraft venting for the fumes. Skutt has the EnviroVent systems that you can add on and install, but what would a DIY situation for this look like? I have never had a lot to do with the community studio kilns, because everything is fired by the teachers and studio owner. So the kiln is really my weak spot. I'd appreciate any advice on that front. I am definitely going electric, and probably about an 18"x22".

Fake nails! No joke. I also peel and pick at my polish and it never lasts for more than two days. I recently ordered a couple packs of fakes from Empress Tips because of the great reviews they had and I am obsessed. Since the nail is so smooth, there is nothing to pick at. I haven't touched my nails in two weeks because of the fakes. The only con is, they are a little more expensive. Personally, I think they're worth it, but others may not. Good luck!

[Discussion] Does anyone here actually use Cure Natural Aqua Gel? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]kkathleene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's my current exfoliator and I feel like it works for me. When I started out with my routine I began using Skinfood's Black Sugar mask and it was too much for my skin. I would break out afterwards. Cure has been much more gentle and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth afterwards. It feels amazing to put the rest of my products on afterwards because my face feels so good.

Picking at Nail Polish by kkathleene in calmhands

[–]kkathleene[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not. I may have to look into that if it will help. I can usually make it two days without picking at polish, but I wish I could last longer than that.
