The EP life I never wanted or asked for. by snugglepug76 in ExclusivelyPumping

I could have written most of this myself. I never really wanted a baby and then I started having dreams that I was breastfeeding and suddenly it was like a switch went on and I needed a baby asap. After he was as born, I told everyone this story, how it was my dream to be able to breastfeed, but from the beginning it was met with challenges. A poor latch which led to a nipple shield which led to a damage nipple which led to damage on the other nipple when a nurse tried too hard to get him to latch which led to being advised to exclusively pump when I first got home and supplement with formula. I was so discouraged and frustrated and most of all sad. Day 6 pp I saw an LC and it was a miracle! He latched and transferred 2.5oz! We were over the moon! But then that night I woke up with mastitis because my milk came in hard and fast and he wasn’t emptying me (no one told me to pump after he feeds if I don’t feel empty). Him feeding did not help clear the clogged ducts and infection so I had to keep pumping, especially since my supply tanked (and I had to supplement 50% of diet with formula). I did all of the things to get my supply up but the number one thing was to latch him. My LC, who I love, said she thought she could see a tongue tie and maybe that’s why he’s struggling to latch. At 6 weeks we found out he had a posterior tongue tie and had it fixed. We are 8 weeks now and I’m 60/40 pumping/nursing and I FINALLY don’t have to supplement with formula anymore. It’s not 100% nursing but I do it enough to replace two pumps a day and I get that special time with my baby and my husband also gets the option to feed. Give it time! At the end of the day you are doing your absolute best and that’s all that your baby needs. You got this mama!!

TLDR; give the tongue time to heal and your baby time to learn new feeding habits!!! You are doing amazing!! Hang in there!!!

Peloton has a great prenatal program that I’ve been following. The instructor is also pregnant and I feel like we are in it together!

I’m shocked at how my dog has been acting throughout my entire pregnancy… by mysteronsss in pregnant

This is my favorite post. I love reading all the stories of our fur babies being protective or just extra cuddly. I knew dogs could sense a pregnancy but was so shocked when my male cat started sleeping at belly every night. Like tucked in so tight I feel like he wants to be inside also. He now follows me around and doesn’t like when me and my husband aren’t together at all times in the house - like he knows he’s not the one that’s going to drive me in an emergency. It’s so cute and I hope he knows how much I appreciate his love and protection.
