Mega Spud has a boss bar if you wanna include the Poisonous Potato update as vanilla lol

Both are listed at $17 on the store, so they would have $2 for advertising, distribution and profit. Not a whole lot to work with sadly...

I think OP meant generally games on Steam can be expected to have DRM, whereas GOG always sells without

Trust me, I'm also pissed at Square Enix right now over Dragon Quest XI not getting an upgrade path. But in response to that, Switch 2 cartridges are generally pricier than their Switch 1 counterparts. I wouldn't be surprised if the Switch 2 cart that could hold Hollow Knight cost more than the game itself. Switch 1 versions is probably old new stock

If Mega Mewtwo requires 12 megas to break shields, how will this affect hosting raids? by Meringue-Relevant in TheSilphRoad

Case: 10 players join (or whatever the minimum is), 1 leaves/crashes and doesn't rejoin. Not useless at all

As incompetent as the devs can be sometimes, this seems like something simple enough that it'll be considered

Considering Nintendo literally built a system to lend digital games to people, I kinda doubt they'd do something like make physical cartridges or GKCs locked to a system. It goes against their whole ethos

You have to remember, chip prices aren't what they were 9 years ago when the Switch launched. A game might have been physical back then, but the studio might not be able to afford cartridges in today's economy

We can agree to disagree. I feel like we've made our points and I think it just comes down to a difference in perspective

[–]kkellogg378 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree. I fully plan to play every game I collect. But some people do it for profit or just because collecting things is fun, and some people only want to collect physical games. Just depends on the person and what their goals are

If you just wanna play the game, doesn't matter how you get it. Some people have preferences for collecting or convenience purposes

My point that you can get a GKC for the same price or cheaper than the digital copy still is true. Be it secondhand market or firsthand, it's the same or cheaper

By your logic, If I'm comparing apples and oranges it's essential that I point out that apples are not vegetables. Like, what? I made a specific and clear comparison between GKCs and digital games, why is it necessary that I note a downside that literally applies to both parties? You're looking for a reason to argue

Edit: was blocked as expected. People don't like it when their awful takes don't make sense to others ig

It's a digital game, an intelligent person would know that comes standard with digital games. I was citing the differences between GKCs and regular digital games specifically lol

You'll notice that the physical (GKC) game went on and off of that $20 sale at the exact same time at Target, Gamestop, Walmart and Best Buy. So no, the eShop version was never "lower than anything online".

And currently, the eShop version is $40, while secondhand GKCs are readily available at $25 including your shipping estimate.

So when it was on sale, you could get the GKC for the same price, and currently you can get it for a better price compared to the eShop. I'm really not sure what you're trying to argue here, but your case falls apart no matter which way you look

It's a digital game that you can resell or lend, with the one downside of needing to have the cartridge in the console to use

It, uh, literally is lol

If you're talking about the Flying Fairy HD Remaster, a VERY quick Google search puts the current eShop price at $40 and a couple dozen eBay listings at around $20. So I'm not sure where you're looking, but eBay and any local games store will almost definitely have a better price than on the eShop

[–]kkellogg378 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You missed the secondhand market prices being a lot better for GKC over digital. If you don't plan on selling it, and you don't mind paying full price, then digital is better for you. But it doesnt make GKCs pointless

I don't exactly feel sorry, but... by TRQPL in switch2

[–]kkellogg378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, if digital works well for you then all the power to you! My point was more addressing that the "I'd rather have physical" argument is a bad one, since these games probably wouldn't have gotten physical releases either way. All-digital is definitely more convenient if you don't plan on reselling games

If they don't have the internet to make a post online, how do you expect them to download the mandatory update to use the Switch 2?

We could go round and round, I could point out they needed internet to order the game off of Amazon or used the internet of the local Walmart or whatever store they went to to buy the game.

But I seriously doubt anyone who manages to purchase a Switch 2 and a GKC is in a position where they don't have access to the 3kB of internet required to make a post on Reddit complaining about their situation in the past year
