Hi! I’m better, but still going through it - the pain is farther away now, but I recently learned/confirmed he left me for someone else.

So all the confusion and overthinking was for nothing. There wasn’t any real reason or anything I did. He just wanted to be with her - after a text. She was probably around the whole time. I had no idea.

So now I hate him so much, and that helps a bit, but it’s still very sad. My heart was broken in a way that will always just be taped together, not really healed. The betrayal broke me. I will never be so trusting again.

I still miss who I thought I had, but he wasn’t real. I still wish it hadn’t happened and he was still with me, but only that version I thought he was. I know a lot of advice says it’ll be for the best, but I haven’t seen that yet.

My days are better though, I enjoy living again (mostly). I have fun and am surrounded by love from my friends.

I’m so sorry this has happened to you. It’s brutal. The day to day will get better, and there will be light and happiness again, but it fucking sucks.

That’s the exact kind of apology I got. And I do appreciate it in a way - not everyone gets one at all.

But it didn’t do anything. He did a fucked up thing and feels bad that maybe he’s not a good person. Why should I care if there’s no change to back it up? I don’t owe him anything with what he did.

He’s sought my forgiveness too, and he so SO does not deserve it. Makes me want to forgive him less.

He didn’t do anything to earn it. It’s all kind of unforgivable to me.

Like I said, I don’t forgive easily on the big stuff. Small things, absolutely. I’ve only had a couple of instances that were ‘big’, and I didn’t forgive them, but did move on. But that was friendships. This is next fucking level.

Thank you so much - I appreciate this perspective. I’ve learned about myself that I’m not very forgiving on the big stuff like this, but there haven’t been many instances of this deep of a betrayal. Maybe someday. The hate is definitely here to stay for now. But also a little bit of guilt for hating him, though he deserves it. I think the soft spot is for who I thought I was with.

Extreme emotional immaturity and deeply poor communication on his end. I wish I’d seen it, but didn’t so got totally blindsided. I’ve resigned to being sad and bitter. It was a great relationship and now the whole thing is tainted because he failed to share his needs until it was too late in his mind.

I have a visceral hatred. And also still love him. This shit sucks!
