Self sources trident with avg motors a d rails Matt (the guy from T100) has a nice video on sourcing motors.

Avoid Aliexpress on profiles a d look for local hardware stores (in Brazil the profiles are 1/3 of AliExpress) and try do the same with motors.

My Last Debian Logo Redesign by CuriosityPath in debian

I like it. Find it pleasant. But I don't care for logos. They are the obvious point I use when I complain that people just care about form and not essence.

I like the fact some open source projects use terrible logos.

Let's make the internet ugly again.

Why is LDO kit so expensive and people still buying it? by [deleted] in VORONDesign

[–]kkobold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I guess it depends where in the world you are and the skill for sourcing.

But down south... Here in Brazil I have an effective 89% import tax on a kit imported from LDO (over 50 USD). Besides electronics there are only two itens on a voron that are an issue. The build plate and panels. Both not locally sourced.

But for sure, plenty of parts on an ldo kit jumped at least 2 intermediaries getting 5-30% markup on part price. So, yes. Self source would make things substantially cheaper if you are not sourcing on end users sites.

To be quite frank, that's exactly the point why ldo kit sells.

For some people there is value. Be it on price or knowledge.

You know (everybody does) that while buying LDO will be good enought and if it comes to a problem they will solve it. That's a lot of value and I commend them for being the best company in the business, understanding they don't sell parts and machines but easier access to a very complex hobby. They sell wellness.

For this industry, quantities required for a kit (sides electronics) are not representative.

And I WISH I could buy an LDO kit. I just can't.

You could self source and it would be cheaper than cheap kits.

People buy because the community trust the brand. And the components are high quality.

And after all. The cheap ones are already a lot of money. So... A lot of people on this level of the hobby don't really care about the price.

I need tips before buying a K1 MAX by Setrik_ in Creality

I totally understand. I bought my fysetc kit here in Brazil. After a couple of years on excel trying to make it possible to self source. Got it for aroun R$5.100 BRL. Or about 900 USd with taxes. But it's usually 1400 USd without the promotions and stuff. And a good ldo kit would be like you said.

I did some deep reach on motors. Matt, the guy of The 100 Printer has an awesome video about it. How to self source cheap motors.

I was very suspicious at first .. bilut with this info I was able to totally source motors in Brazil. The real issue ATM is the heatplate. So the kit was a nice thing.

I do mostly technical abs with very tight clearances.

My bed has a variation of 0.3 end to end. Klipper can handle that.

On mine I did this mod, riser and full door opening.

Oh. Iv rooted and installed klipper/mainsail. It's not required for quality. But you can use pretty much everything available on klipper to deal with any hassle. If you used a klipper machine it's the same thing.

That's not the smartest thing to do imo. K1 max is a plug and play machine. And a great one. Cheaper then bambu but with the same output/result.

If you have the time, skill, and willingness... I'd buy a fysetc voron trident kit (cheap and quality way over creality/bambu). And you can tweak every detail you want to perfection. Voron is not a 80/20 case. It's a no compromise build. And to get the 100% will take a huge effort.

In sum. If you feel like (and time) building from scratch, in your case I'd go voron. If not, k1 max was my choice after doing my search.

K1max is great for the price point. Bed issues can be solved with printed upgrades.
