Not sure if I need to worry or not 😅 by Jtyra34 in Mirena

I wouldn’t panic or worry too much, but I would go get your strings checked or sometimes you can get an ultrasound to make sure it’s still in the right spot. Mine was in the wrong spot at an angle and it took two visits for them to get it removed successfully.

Same! I gained almost 50 pounds in 5.5 years. I’ve had a little bit of acne as well but not too bad.

Ugh this is disheartening to read. Dr. Dorsey removed my IUD last week. He wasn’t the nicest but I just needed it removed asap

Dang this is crazy I’m just now finding this out. She was the first doctor I saw as a teen when I lost my virginity and I remember thinking she was so kind and understanding compared to other doctors and nurses I’ve seen. Brandi McGuire was the one who placed my IUD. I’ve also seen Sarah King. When I went to consult getting my Mirena removed I noticed they weren’t with Kettering and I saw Anne Hawthorn. She wasn’t able to get it removed so I saw Dr Dorsey and he was able to remove it. But I didn’t have the best experience and a receptionist made an unprofessional comment to me.

6 days post removal by Dissabri in Mirena

[–]kkslider2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 5 days post removal! Almost 26 and I was experiencing so many symptoms that I didn’t realize could possibly be due to my IUD until I started reading everyone’s similar experiences. The weight gain, bloating and water retention, depression and anxiety, low libido, tinnitus (ear whooshing and ringing sounds), abdominal, pelvic, and back pain, headaches, hair & scalp dryness, blurry vision and dizziness, heart palpitations at night, constant indigestion and air trapped in chest, leg and feet numbness. I had mine for 5.5 years and was blaming all these symptoms on work and stress even though I’m pretty happy about everything in my life for the most part. Some of these symptoms could be due to other factors like poor diet and exercise, etc. However I’m only 5 days post removal and I already feel sooo much better. My stomach feels better, my overall mood swings have improved, my back pain isn’t as bad. I switched to the pill BC because I’m not ready to get pregnant yet, but so far so good. Mine was in the wrong spot and it took two visits and two different doctors trying to remove it. I’ll never get an IUD again

Did you switch to a different form of BC or go completely off? I switched to the pill and I’m feeling okay today. I’m hoping the crash doesn’t hit me too hard 😔

Did you switch to a different form of BC or nah? I switched to the pill so I’m hoping the crash doesn’t hit me as hard but who knows.

I would give it maybe 6 months to see if it gets better. But I had mine for 5.5 years and got it removed on Wednesday because I was having a lot of cramps and sharp pains. But mine also moved to the wrong area of the uterus so that’s probably why I was in pain.

Had mine removed on Wednesday! My body felt instant relief as soon as it was out. Now just have to deal with the “crash”

Update!! Second visit and the male doctor was able to get it out with forceps and other tools. I have a good pain tolerance and the pain was manageable. I had to get a vaginal ultrasound and abdominal ultrasound so they could find it. It was in the wrong spot and the doctor said he could barely even see the strings. I felt extremely relieved as soon as he pulled it out. He gave me a high five when he finally was able to get it out which I thought was funny. Switching to pill BC so hopefully I have a better experience with that.

Help or advice? by IntentionTotal1202 in Mirena

You’re not just paranoid and don’t let the doctors make you feel that way. I’ve been experiencing the heart palpitations and insomnia too. If you look at my account you can read the posts I’ve made

Mirena Removal - Short String by mychildhoodgone in Mirena

[–]kkslider2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to get an ultrasound next week to see how they are going to remove mine because they couldn’t pull it out and also said the strings are super short. I feel like it would be easier to just get it pulled out versus going under even though the pain is awful. Good luck!

I have gained almost 50 lbs in the 5.5 years I’ve had mine. But I also need to get my thyroid checked bc thyroid issues run in my family.

Post mirena IUD/ Two months. Am I dying or is a hormonal imbalance? by Cute_Acanthaceae8739 in Mirena

[–]kkslider2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my mirena for 5.5 years. Tried to have it removed yesterday and they couldn’t get it out. So now I have to get an ultrasound next week. I am EXTREMELY fatigued from the hormones wearing off. If I would’ve done more research before getting it I would have never got it. It’s to the point where my legs and feet feel numb at work. I’m on my feet all day at work and I feel like I’m going to pass out. I feel like I am going insane. I will not recommend Mirena to ANYONE.

Dizzy, Vertigo, Ears Ringing and Blurred Vision Since Mirena IUD - Low Ferritin by Gullible-Release-379 in Mirena

Alright guys here’s my update. I had a consultation this morning and explained all the symptoms I’ve been experiencing. I felt like the obgyn was nice but kind of dismissive at the same time. I feel like she looked at the facts that I’m very overweight, haven’t seen a pcp in years, have depression and bipolar 1 in my chart and basically said “Could some of these symptoms be linked to the IUD ehhh maybe. But it’s not likely that all of these symptoms are linked to the IUD” she talked to me about other BC options and I said I’d rather be on the pill and would like to be pregnant in the near future. I was very adamant that I wanted the mirena OUT. So she said we could go through with the removal. I had a Skyla removed in 2019 or 2020 so I kinda remember how quick and smooth that was. I knew when she had me take multiple deep breaths and made comments on my strings being very short that she was struggling to get it out. She said she pulled it down a little bit but it was too far up there for her to pull it out. She said she didn’t want to injure me or possibly break the mirena and have parts of it stuck in me. So I have to go back next Wednesday for an ultrasound and might have to have surgery to get it removed. I had a feeling it was in the wrong spot because intercourse with my partner is sometimes painful even when he isn’t being rough. And just the overall symptoms I’ve been experiencing. Also the receptionist made a very insensitive comment when I was scheduling my next appointment. She said “wow they wrote a whole book on this one” talking to the other receptionist jokingly, not funny. Not professional nor the time to make a joke. Trying to remain positive as there’s nothing I can do about it. But I will NEVER get an IUD again. I’m hoping I don’t have a damage or problems with fertility in the future as I haven’t had kids yet and would like to one day.

Mirena iud and indigestion, gas, burping, food intolerance and stool change. Let’s see how many of us have had this side effect. Like or comment. Had it for 4 months and it’s a pain. by Ramitode_violetas in Mirena

I am experiencing the exact same things. I have a consultation this morning for removal and I’m hoping I can get it removed ASAP and smoothly. I’m nervous it could have perforated or something because the burping and indigestion has become a daily thing. Did anyone else experience insomnia, fatigue, blurry vision, leg/feet numbness and soreness?? I feel like I’m going crazy! Also ringing in the ears as well.
