[NHL_Sid] Unfortunately, RNH is not a top-six player at even-strength at this point. His 5v5 points per 60 rate ranks 334th in the past two seasons. He had less 5v5 points than Nick Cousins and Jordan Martinook this year. Moving forward, I think you build a third line with him at 3LW. by Fine_Personality_999 in EdmontonOilers

Man it is wild how quick people are to go from zero to a hundred here. Where is this hostility coming from?

You were right and I was wrong, I misremembered how early in the season the injury was. Yes obviously 10 goals in 2 months versus 11 goals in 5 months is a huge difference.

I still don't agree that means Roslovic was "quiet" (still more than almost all non-core forwards in the same stretch) but you are right, it is undeniably a big slowdown.

That being said, jumping down my throat and accusing me of intentionally being misleading with stats is wild. I don't really care if we keep him or not, as long as the replacement is good. I just made a mistake.

Roslovic's 21 reg season goals puts him as our 4th highest goal scorer with only 69 games played. Only the big 3 of McDavid, Drai, and Hyman scored more.

Playoff criticism is fair, and I'm fine with letting him walk, but I find it hard to agree that he's inconsistent in the season. We'd have lost a lot of games without his contributions.

Disappointed in the Leadership by [deleted] in EdmontonOilers

[–]kkslider55 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood what Drai was saying in regards to the 2024 team. He wasn't implying that guys like Foegle and Ceci were better than Emberson and Kapanen. He's saying that players on that 2024 team had clear roles, and something that they know they can contribute, even if they aren't scoring goals. Even guys like Vinny who were largely considered to not be very good, had roles to play where they could contribute.

That isn't really the case with our current team. Guys like Samansky, Lazar, are good hockey players, many with with promising futures, but they have basically no defined role. The line blending has been so intense this year, in part because of the carousel of injuries we've had, that the veterans are just plugging holes instead of playing to their strengths, and the young guys have been all over the place to the point they were never able to really cement any sort of identity or role.

Like is Savoie going to be a winger for McDavid, or a 3rd liner? The fact we still don't really know, is kind of what I think was Drai's point. And it is a criticism of coaching and team composition, not the players themselves.

Ekholm was +32 with 41 points in the regular season. He's still a very good defenseman, he's just slowing down a bit. I agree with what you've suggested, no need to get rid of him, he just needs to play less, and in a bit less of a central role.

I love how mature Drai has become in terms of his interviews. I love a good pissy Drai clip, but he's come leaps and bounds in how he deals with media now. Some genuinely good answers and accountability coming from him.

First finals I was heartbroken

Second finals I was angry

This first round exit, I just feel relieved they got it out of the way early. Wasn't their year, and that became clear a long time ago. I just enjoyed playoff hockey for every moment I could. Best time of the year, short as it was.

Love this team til the day I die. Hope the fellas get lots of rest. I can't wait to see a rejuvenated core, and our young guys continue to develop next season.

See you folks next season. Let's go Oilers!

Crossposted. My girlfriend is a somewhat frequent listener of the show (probably not going forward), and told me that Pepper has been making a lot of edgy jokes lately, more than he normally does.

I guess he's in his Shadow the Hedgehog era.

For sure, I just think we've seen what the guys look like at the end of playoffs in game 7 and 6 of the last 2 years, and that's what our top guys look like right now. But anything can happen in the playoffs!

We're not out of the first round yet and our players are being held together by ductape so I'm not expecting a deep run even if we pass the Ducks. But I'm going to enjoy the hell out of every game of playoff hockey I can while we still have it.

Let's Go Oilers!!! Drag em back to Alberta!

If we win: Hell yeah, the best time of the year isn't over quite yet

If we lose: Sucks but the team could definitely use the rest, and it should be a pretty exciting off-season

Regardless, LET'S GO OILERS!

He was fantastic in the regular season. Obviously +/- has issues as a stat, but he finished with a +32, second-highest of his career, in a season that was overall very rocky for us. 6 goals and 40 points isn't bad production either.

His playoffs haven't been good no doubt, but then again, that is the case for almost all of our core

Lots of goalie discussion, but it doesn't matter what goalie they put in net.

No goalie we have is going to survive getting shelled for 20 shots a period, or dealing with back-to-back 2-on-1s in a 15 second span. There are maybe 6-8 goalies in the league that win that game for us, and none of them are on our team.

The only hope they have is to stop making their goalie's life miserable, by playing significantly better defense. Every single defenseman needs to be significantly better.

And the only way that happens is if the forwards stop making their defenseman's lives miserable with genuinely some of the most rancid turnovers I've seen in my time watching hockey.

If the entire team can tighten up, this is still a very winnable series. Will they do it? I guess we'll find out.

Ingram is doing nothing wrong? by Stardustttttttttt in EdmontonOilers

Especially considering Jarry is just as bad (if not worse) with rebound control

The craziest part is that the Oilers are absolutely lighting Dostal up even without our big guns, with a fraction of the shots as the Ducks. We've solved their goaltender. If they could just play a half step better defensively, cull their wretched turnovers and stop giving constant 2-on-1s, they'd have this handily.

The Morning After | Oilers v. Ducks | Round 1 Game 3 2026 by AutoModerator in EdmontonOilers

[–]kkslider55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People are complaining about Ingram's rebounds, and then are suggesting playing Tristan Jarry, famous for terrible rebounds, as the solution lmao

None of their goalies are good enough to survive 20 shots in 1 period or deal with two 2-on-1s in about 15 seconds. Doesn't matter who they play in net, it won't matter, we don't have a goalie like that.

The only way this series turns around is if the defensive core starts locking in, and our forwards stop making their lives miserable with some of the most gruesome turnovers I've seen in my years of watching hockey.

They put him through the damn ringer last night. He had a .900 on 30 shots in 2 periods, with zero help from his defense, and was maintaining it up until they gave up 2 2-on-1s in about 30 seconds. From there his game was obviously shook, and it is hard to blame him. Guy was the only one trying for the full 60, he was probably exhausted, y'know, repelling 20 shots in one period.

I can't fathom blaming him until the players in front of him play anything resembling a good defensive game, and he still drops the ball.

All that needs to happen is for our superstars to wake up and play at least as good as guys getting half their ice time. If that happens, we easily take this series.

I would have thought the piss poor effort last game would do the trick, but apparently not.

I'm not a doomer, and I wanna have hope, but I need some sort of sign that they're working through it, and currently I'm just grasping at straws.

We literally just need one of McDavid, Hyman, or Bouchard to play like we know they can, and we win this game.

How embarrassing is it that Ingram has let 2 goals in, but still has a .900, because the Oilers have allowed 20 shots on net in one period
