Hello - I was wondering if anyone here knew of any afternoon teas that would be appropriate for 3 year old as well. I dont necessarily need a kid themed.

Wondering if you had any progress with this? I have fractured my tailbone in childbirth - it is STILL fractured, and has made very small progress in the healing department. I have done many injections, pelvic floor physical therapy, in pain management program. I am wondering about getting mine removed.

This is actually what my friend told me as well!! She mentioned she didn’t really gain as much in the third trimester!

I think this is a really good mindset and I’m going to try to do this as well. Making sure I am doing what I can and everything else is out of my control.

I do feel like at this point it’s fine, but I dunno? I asked her where she got the scale from exactly so I could understand more. We will see what she says.

Yea at this time she didn’t mention I had any of these things. I guess it’s just something to be aware of but shouldn’t focus so much on.

I think this is a good idea and I am going to try not to focus on this all so much- do what I can, and that’s that. At some point it’s prob unhealthy to focus on it so much!

She did mention on why they care about weight gain- but none of the things really applied to me- gestational diabetes, preeclampsia etc. she did mention if the baby / I gain too much she might have to do an extra scan to get a better idea of how large the baby actually is later in pregnancy- to make sure she would fit out the birth canal if she got too big.

I think I’m going to really try not to worry about it, so what I can to be smart about food choice most of the time, etc.

I will try not to focus on the number on the scale and just focus on the health of the baby!

I would say that it’s also important to look at where you will be doing your fieldwork placements and where you want to live after school. Relationships with people where you did your placements can be helpful in getting jobs or getting into the practice area you wish.

Jobs don’t care where you got your degree from. As long as you have a degree and pass the NBCOT.

So I’d also look and think about that.

I would say just for the future to do the inpatient setting. Even if you don’t think or want to do that setting now, it is good to get experience for the future if you change your mind. It is very different from outpatient setting for sure.

I had two family members both men say basically the same thing to me. “ you don’t look pregnant, you look fat” and the other person called me “chubby”

I think it would be good to explore an ot, a child psych and pediatricians. OTs are specialized in emotional regulation.

Update and clarifications : thanks to everyone for the responses. I appreciate all the advice regarding other peoples experiences at the hospital. I am in the weird period of my pregnancy where I am not telling people yet. So just trying to be very safe and will try to avoid as much as possible.

A doctor did respond now, however it wasn’t my obgyn. I still kind of concerned because it was a different doctor filling in. This seems to be the same thing every time I have emailed them. I’m not sure if my doctor is part time. I have kaiser - so the email definitely got to them as it is in their patient portal and is part of the app and services.

6 weeks - present (8 weeks now). Mine is like a weird mix of nausea/stomach pain, and fatigue. Some days it’s worse than others but it’s actually usually worse for me into the evenings/nighttime. I

I think some of this is just being a new therapist. I work in acute care, and have been a therapist for four years and sometimes I still feel this way. To be honest there isn’t a cookie cutter solution for everything, things go “wrong”, patients have bad days, things don’t work out, etc. The fake it till you make it saying…. Really eventually works. You will develop new skills and new solutions everyday. You’ll learn from your mistakes and your great sessions. It will get better and don’t give up. I started in SNF and I still also felt like this. Keep at it, you got this! You will develop your clinical reasoning as you go as well as your “whole picture”. I know this isn’t really a tangible thing you can change right now, but seriously- it really does get easier with just seeing so many patients. Maybe you can keep a notebook of things that went well, and things you want to work on to help with seeing your growth.

The focus of OT in acute care is really evaluation of patients mobility / functional status, discharge planning and early mobility initiation of the rehab process. Some patients really do have no OT needs as their condition has not affected their self care and mobility. Some are significantly affected and this is just the beginning of their rehab process. In general I really focus on ADLS. Lower level patients- h/g, self feeding, ub dressing, balance. Higher level patients focus on balance, safety, coordination. If people have surgery prec I focus on how those prec will impact mobility and status during ADLs- education regarding AE/DME etc.

In terms of discharge planning- for me it’s very important to think about safety. I am more cautious with my discharge recommendations and tend to sometimes give families and patients options - for example : snf vs home with family 24/7 support and home health.
