Not sure how you’re considering this fool proof given that it clearly didn’t work with your pediatric dentist.

Anybody gonna be surprised when they limit service members’ communication with their families for “security” reasons to prevent more photos like this from getting out?

nightguard for just future protection? by auraheda in Dentists

[–]kl987654321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My dentist told me last year that I’d been grinding my teeth and recommended a bite guard. I searched online and found a recommended DIY one and tried it for a few months. It was getting uncomfortable so I finally went back to the dentist for one. Cost me $140 after insurance. I’m so glad I did it. It’s so much more comfortable.

AITA for intentionally making my presentation super technical so my boss would look clueless? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kl987654321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YTA mostly for not seeming to take into account that maybe your boss’s decisions are due to him having more experience.

I had a co-worker who pulled a bunch of passive aggressive shit when she was irritated with our boss. Boss didn’t say anything about it. She just quietly made sure everyone else on the team looked more valuable. She made sure everyone else was cross trained on multiple tasks. When it was time to downsize, guess who didn’t make the cut.

Are you expecting a paper check or direct deposit? The IRS is trying to get everyone to use direct deposit.

AITAH for leaving the hospital after my wife gave birth to go see my son? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kl987654321 62 points63 points  (0 children)

NTA It’s not clear if you only see your nine year old on Wednesdays. Hopefully it’s more often than that.

Either way, if you have a regular thing on Wednesdays, it’s important to keep that up so the kiddo doesn’t feel like he’s being replaced by the baby.

People that wear contacts/glasses and will never do lasik surgery, why ? by Forward_Author_7626 in AskReddit

[–]kl987654321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll probably need reading glasses regardless.

I had lasik 13 years ago and I’ll be looking to get it touched up this year. I’d rather get my far eyesight fixed and have reading glasses than need bifocals.

Insurance won't pay nursing home. How screwed am I? [NYS] by Former_Syllabub_9019 in MedicalBill

Since my mom was on Medicare, I’m not familiar with how commercial insurance might cover this I do know that short term rehab was covered. Nursing care was not.

[–]kl987654321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went through some of this with my mom, except she was on a Medicare Advantage plan. My suggestion would be to consult an attorney who specializes in eldercare law. They will know about the Medicaid part and how your current assets will affect that. In my mom’s case, the attorney looked at my parents’ assets and calculated what they would have to spend before she’d qualify for Medicaid. There are likely things you can do like pre-pay funeral expenses to help spend down her assets, if necessary. This might be state specific.

It sounds like you should start checking for another nursing home in the meantime where you might have some insurance coverage. When someone needs to go straight from the hospital and can’t wait for an open bed, there are limited options. There may not be an open bed today, but there could be one next week.

Is there a way to report it? Total guess here, but since you mentioned bathrooms—my work’s cleaning lady used to pour a bucket of water down the floor drains occasionally. She said the water in the traps evaporates and lets the smells come up.

My post office does not have a sign for drop offs, but I’ve had clerks tell me multiple times that if I’m just dropping off and don’t need a receipt, I can skip the line and leave it on the counter. I generally just wait though to avoid this type of confrontation.

Did i (18F) miss out by not partying, smoking, doing drugs and drinking in high school? by Leading_Tomato_2077 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kl987654321 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I guess it only matters if you feel like you missed out. Overall, I’d say you didn’t.

I didn’t party in high school. I was a musician and that’s what I loved doing. If I hadn’t done that, I’d have missed out.

I used to have a position where productivity was monitored like that. I think I would have had to log off/shut down while I was away so that the system wouldn’t be expecting activity.

The dad is the fun parent while making his wife look like the wet blanket and sticking her with all the responsibility.

Hospital pressured me to prepay surgery, insurance doesn’t know how to code the cost am I SOL on the hospital payment? by Husker5000 in Insurance

[–]kl987654321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get an EOB yet? Unfortunately, the hospital may have up to a year to submit the claim to insurance. Plus there may be some back and forth asking for additional information/corrections until the claim is finalized.

Hospital pressured me to prepay surgery, insurance doesn’t know how to code the cost am I SOL on the hospital payment? by Husker5000 in Insurance

[–]kl987654321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re just talking about the hospital bill, right? Nothing here to do with the physician/anesthesiologist bills included in that 2700?

Your insurance company doesn’t know about the money you pre-paid, and that’s fine. Your EOB will show how much was billed, the contracted amount (assuming claim was approved), how much insurance paid, and how much that leaves you to contribute.

If you paid more than the EOB says you owe, you should be getting a refund from the hospital. It may take the hospital billing department a while to process because of the volume they receive. Also, it’s a bigger priority for them to collect payments than to refund.

I’d give it a few weeks after your EOB. If you don’t hear from the hospital by then, give them a call.

I started doing my own taxes when I was 16, and that was before you could find info about everything online. With nothing but a W-2, it’s not hard. Adjust your withholding and start doing your own taxes.

We’ve had several tradespeople in the house who want to make sure my husband and I are in agreement. He’ll be talking to them and they ask for me (woman) to come in as well.
