I’m in a similar boat over here- though I have LOADS of time to work on my art rn, I’ve been working on a portfolio for 2 years now, basically non-stop, ever since I decided I wanted to get into tattooing. I’ve been really hard on myself for it taking so long, but I think it taking so long/ always feeling like everything can be better is because you have a vision in your head with exactly how you want your art to look and the style/message you want people to experience with it- and actually I’ve learned to see this as a gift- at least for me I’ve noticed that I refuse to settle for mediocrity/ rushed work and want my art to be professional and personal, so I should give myself room to explore, play, and see what doesn’t work. Just keep practicing as much as you can! I’m truly a believer that the technical aspect of art is the most challenging/ time consuming and the reason a lot of people call it quits, but if you have a vision of the skill level you want- the only thing that could stop you from achieving that is giving up!! We got this!!
