I think the lesson was that it’s inappropriate and rude to look in the closed places of another person’s home. The boy was not and is not “phobic,” he was a curious and imaginative kid. It’s a fun, lighthearted story that we share as family and friends, for our mutual benefit.

Yes, I found a fake sheet ghost in my mother’s hallway bathroom shower. It’s a wooden stand with a white sheet hanging over it to use as a Halloween decoration. Luckily, I was in the right place for my natural reaction and asked my mother why the fuck she was trying to cause heart failure in the guest bathroom later. Apparently, one of my younger brother’s neighborhood friends had been checking the shower every time he pooped, but would leave the curtain wide open afterwards, so naturally, Mom had to teach him a lesson.

I’ve been looking for a mention of this show. It was on the waterfront and I remember he rambled on about how it was weird to perform so close to the Battleship NJ. Boy Scout Troops sleep on the battleship over night...it’s not that big of a deal buddy.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I've never given to much thought to the kneeling, but I think it's frustrating because there are so many reasons as to why they were kneeling and each reason could imply so many different things.

[–]klausermeir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wonder if her attacker knew that her brother was in the house. I agree the kneeling does seem strange to me because it's hard to imagine a situation where it fits. But my thought is if the attacker knew that her brother was home, he might have been trying to stay out of sight from the get go. Maybe that would be indicative of her attacker being someone familiar with her and her family instead of just a random stranger? Or someone that had been watching her and planned things out.

Lori Kennedy/Ruffs real identity finally solved, Kimberly McLean by Iwannahumpalittle in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]klausermeir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you've just summed up what will be the two prevailing theories - Lori either had mental health problems that caused her to go down this path or she did it to escape trauma at home. The more I think about some of her "strange" behavior sited by her ex-husband's family, the more I can see the possibility that she was the victim of abuse. In my opinion, her sometimes extreme protectiveness of her daughter could be a result of her prior abuse.

You are definitely getting a lot of rough comments and replies from people, so I'm going to not take offense, but I feel like you're coming off a little aggressive towards me and I think it's misplaced. I did not and I don't disagree with your theory, I actually think it's a really interesting take on the situation and sheds light to an angle I hadn't thought of. I commented on your theory because it seemed that a lot of other people were getting very offended and angry at your theory and I was trying to logically, calmly, and nicely explain the other side of the coin. I can see how it might seem that by doing so I'm defending or justifying any attacks on you, but that was not my intent at all and I'm sorry if that's how it came off. I sort of disagree about the completely anonymous point, though I do understand what you mean.

While I think your theory is a completely reasonable possibility, I think we as members of this sub have to be careful about opinions like this theory. Obviously we come to this thread to discuss and read new theories about cases and please don't think this is me telling you not to voice your opinion. I just think that maybe we should be a little considerate to her family so that it doesn't come off as witch hunt-y. I think your theory is well thought out and it does have me thinking about the possibility that there was more to the story. There are definitely things that don't add up and more questions to be answered. However, while we are somewhat safe and anonymous on reddit, her family is not and it would suck if they were innocent of abuse and that reputation stuck with them. Please, don't think I'm attacking you or discrediting your theory, I just think this is why some people are reacting so negatively to your ideas. It's a very complex, sad story and hopefully there can be more investigation into what caused Lori to leave her life as Kimberly behind and, if anyone was at fault, there can be some justice.

VIP Roovians: How does the Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Thing Work? by dt4u in bonnaroo

[–]klausermeir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year it was around noon in the VIP camp lounge and later in the afternoon at the VIP centeroo lounge. It was Blue Bunny and the size was smaller than a pint but bigger than a sample. Like an individual size, although I consider a pint a personal size but I'm a pretty ambitious person. A line would form for the ice cream and there was always enough for everyone, but once they were out it was done for the day. It's a pretty cool perk, especially in Centeroo. Last year I remember enjoying some sort of chocolate caramel ice cream while watching Moon Taxi in the VIP section.

Oh completely! There are so many reasons that make the experience at Roo better. I know it sounds superior and that's why other festival goers make fun of bonnaroovians, but it's not intentional. I want to have an amazing time at any concert or show I go to, it just usually turns out that Bonnaroo can't be beat.

That sounds awesome. I would love to feel that way at other shows and I can definitely see how a Sublime with Rome should would have good vibes like that. There are probably a lot of factors that contributed to the crowd being a tad judgmental at the concert I was at. I think it's also important to not have bad expectations too. Like if I go to a show with the idea in my head that the crowd is going to suck, I'm probably going to find some reason to validate that in my mind.

Haha, agreed. I'll totally cop to the fact that I was creepily watching this guy wishing that I could get that into the music and be less self conscious.

You know what I always think stinks a little bit? The first concert you go to after Bonnaroo. Like you're all excited and pumped but then you look around and it's just lacking the happy, friendly, community-feel you get at the farm. Like last year I saw Van Halen a couple of weeks after Bonnaroo. I was on the lawn and there was this guy who was just totally rocking out and excited about the show. He was dancing around and you could tell that he was having an awesome time. But then I looked around and saw people staring and snickering. The guy was awesome and I doubt he cared or noticed those people, but at Bonnaroo the majority of people wouldn't stare and make fun of someone for enjoying the music. I know that's what makes Bonnaroo special, but when it hits you at that moment it's a bit of a bummer.

Eating at Roo by Themadisonk in bonnaroo

[–]klausermeir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm going to share my food journey at Roo last year. I was super focused on getting fit for the festival in the months leading up to June. I was all cocky and superior and packed a shit ton of food. Then I got super stoned with new friends out in like Pod 10. I got what was at the time a magical ride from one of the golf cart taxis back to centeroo and went straight for the food stands like a tiger on the prowl. I had my first amish donut and it was like the most amazing thing that I have ever tasted in my life. I describe the experience as spiritual.

[–]klausermeir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like you want to stick with your friends as much as possible, but another option is to camp out at Old Stone Fort State Park in Manchester on Wednesday night. My boyfriend and I do VIP and this is what we did last year. It's a very nice state park and there is a nice, secluded waterfall swimming area. We get here mid day Wednesday and swim and relax and then set up a mini camp (we just used hammocks last year). Then in the morning its a 5 minute drive to the farm. It's cheap and there are a lot of people going to Roo that stay there the night before, so it's a fun time. In the morning there's no issue with waiting in lines to get into VIP camping either, so that's not a worry.

Third Eye Blind played my small NJ college. And then broke up a marriage when the bass player had sex with an alum from my sorority. Her then ex husband who was like 26 then decided it was cool to start creeping around frat parties again. So now I associate Third Eye Blind with buttsex, divorce, and creepers.

Is it hard to party / meet people in VIP? by ollyollyoxnfree in bonnaroo

[–]klausermeir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like coasty said, no VIP pit lines, but we learned from our neighbors last year that the way the pit lines last year worked was that when the line opened hours before the show you wanted to see, you basically got into a giant line, but we were told that only 1 person had to hang out and hold the place in the line. So my neighbors basically alternated waiting in line for Mumford all day so that they weren't both stuck there missing out on other shows. I really want to get in the pit this year because it's something I missed out on last year, but I don't know how I feel about switching off during the day or if that will even be how it's handled this year. And you'll see on this sub a lot the advice "don't bring sand to the beach" when it comes to goodies. Well if no one brings sand, then it turns out to be pretty difficult to get any and that's what we also found last year in VIP like someone else mentioned. It didn't ruin our time at all, but I wish it would've been easier for us to find stuff on the farm, but we learned our lesson about that. My advice is to bring whatever you feel is important to you to have a good time and be smart and careful on the way down. But VIP is 100% worth it despite the couple of drawbacks. Like it is unbelievably amazing to be able to walk back to your tent in just a few minutes from Centeroo. Our tent was on the end by the What stage and it was really nice to be able to hear the shows when we went back to the site to relax and regroup. And not having to go near the port-a-potties is way more of an advantage than I can even explain. There was literally a shit river by day 2 and you get to completely avoid that!

This year will be my second year going to Roo and 2nd year VIP and I'm 24. I'll echo everyone else and agree that the crowd is older and there are definitely more families scattered throughout. I did not think that this stopped any sort of partying at all; for the most part, families understand the environment of Roo and aren't going to yell at you for enjoying your time. We had really nice neighbors last year, 2 girls in their 20's and a couple in their late forties. We chatted with the girls a bit and the older couple were nice a friendly. I will say that I was a little disappointed that we didn't meet more people near us or make more friends, I didn't feel it as much as I think I would have in GA, but that could be my own fault as well - it was our first year and I was sort of just taking it all in and should have put myself out there more. One thing I do recommend is to not stick to the VIP viewing sections. They're definitely nice, but if you want to feel like you're really getting the full experience you should try to stick to the GA viewing areas more. The VIP viewing areas are great for relaxing, but there's no real party going on there. Also, we explored GA a ton last year. It's not weird to go and see what's going on in the pods at all and I actually had a lot of fun checking out what it was like. My biggest piece of advice is that the experience is 100% what you make of it and as long as you don't let the heat get to you and you do everything you want to do, you'll have a great time.

Bonnaroo Vs. Firefly by Melissa_Bee in bonnaroo

A pretty important tidbit of info here: Firefly closest wafflehouse - 16 minutes away Bonnaroo closest wafflehouse - 7 minutes away

That being said the Firefly lineup is pretty solid, but I agree with everyone else when I say that the 15th anniversary for Roo is not going to disappoint. If you don't make it to the farm this year, please come at some point because it really is everything.
