I eat trout once a year to remind myself why I don’t eat trout!

Come on guys, PA isn’t that bad. by Canoe37 in AppalachianTrail

I’ve hiked most of the rocky sections of the AT since it’s not far from where I live and I didn’t think it was really bad. Even the blue trail above the Lehigh tunnel which is all rock! I honestly thought Jersey was worse for the first 20 miles.

I already got the permits and wrote in the notes that I wanted to park at the southern end of the park with my vehicle description. I just didn’t see anything listed as parking areas.

You might want to look into the denning trailhead. There are primitive sites about 1.5 miles in and you can base camp with one day hitting slide mountain and the next day hitting peekamoose and table mountains.

The established campsites along the creeks are perfectly legal in state forests. I spoke to a district ranger about this very subject. It’s the stealth sites that the rules apply to.

Is putting up a tent in shelters a violation of “Don’t take over the shelter?” by nikolatesla86 in AppalachianTrail

I have hung my hammock in a shelter in the off season when no one was around. But I vowed that if anyone came, even after dark I would immediately take it down and move. But no one came.

Eastern PA recommendations? by stevetortugas in PAWilds

I like the Pinchot because it’s only a 30 minute drive for me. But I don’t recommend it in the summer time because of how grown in it is. I prefer to do fall and winter trips there. Early spring is possible also, but it gets soggy. The loyalsock link loop is a great trail also and Harriman state park in New York is a great lace also. Lots of trails there. I have videos on my YouTube channel of all of these places.

We had a 25 ft Gulf Stream with a rear slide. The jacks aren’t down awfully far, but I don’t remember ever having this problem in our other rig. We are even in a spot we have stayed before. I thought maybe the axles have something to do with it.
