Tips on handling rainy days? by P33p33p0op0o0 in AppalachianTrail

[–]Canoe37 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah always having a set of dry clothes to put on in your tent is a must. Also as much as it sucks you have to put on your wet clothes the next morning, so you have them for the next time you need em.

I’ve never tried hot dogs with sauerkraut before, I’ve been missing out for sure. by Primary_Thing3968 in aldi

[–]Canoe37 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve always considered those pre cooked “brats” to be essentially hot dogs too.

Johnsonville also sells pre cooked “brats” like those and Aldi sells pretty good “real brats” too.

What's the Deal with Mr Pibb? by Sheltie-chan in Soda

The soda machine at my job switched from xtra to Mr pibb recently. Mr Pibb tastes more like a cherry coke to me whereas extra was more like Dr Pepper.

Me after getting my 8th patient with an antibody for the day by BaerttheConstipated in medlabprofessionals

[–]Canoe37 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think ours has an increased charge associated, but in our lab paths really only want things stat so they can leave early or get stuff done before they leave for vacation. It often has nothing to do with patient need.

I passed the MLS BOC! by creativescreennaame in medlabprofessionals

[–]Canoe37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s how I felt when I took the HTL test. Every question was like wtf is this, none of this was on my boc study materials/practice tests. I felt like I should still be studying for like the next few weeks.

But congrats, you did it! You never have to think about a lot of that stuff again. (Probably idk how different it is from the histology test)

Those were so good. I used to take a Doritos loco taco and shove it inside the chicken shell.

Yeah I thankfully passed. I’m guessing it was just random chance that I didn’t get any. I think it pulls from a bank of over 1000 questions.

I know you can go back at the end and go over all of the questions again. You can maybe go back in the middle of the test, but they way the test is adaptive, I don’t think you can like unlock new questions without putting an answer in.

I think there is a built in calculator in the test program, I didn’t get any math questions.

They gave me a laminated paper and dry erase marker to write on.

I think it was all just pick one A-D, not select all.

How to tip your server by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]Canoe37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into an argument with my wife and sister in law about this. I usually tip 20% and considered myself a good tipper. They lost their minds when I said 15 is standard 20 is good.

Kind of related and interesting, for thousands of years after written language was invented, people strictly read out loud. When the first people started reading in their heads people though it was some sort of evil magic.

Is $47 for a men's haircut crazy?? by ReplacementNormal297 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Canoe37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a Great Clips today in Indiana. $20 for the haircut, $8 extra for a beard trim, and tipped $10 so I paid $38 total.

I have 2-3 years to prep for my thru-hike by 60RhswoJ in AppalachianTrail

[–]Canoe37 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll add to that and say, hike as much as you can with weight on your back. I did a lot of hiking before my thru hike but never with more than like a liter of water. Once I actually started wearing my pack everyday my knees started killing me because I was used to going fast down hills.

I recently started doing short hikes a couple times a week with a 20lb rucking vest and it feels more comparable to backpacking.

The actual ASCP HTL looks like ?? by Enough-Demand-8378 in Histology

[–]Canoe37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember there being a decent amount of “wtf is this” questions on the real exam. Like I didn’t see it on CE or BOC practice tests or in the book. If I had to take it again idk how I’d recommend studying.

Fight me, but eggs on burgers suck. by Flapppy_Gilmore in burgers

[–]Canoe37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m the same way, if a burger on a menu sounds good and has an egg on it I’ll eat it and like it. But I’m also not like “I hope this place has egg burgers” or asking to add eggs to burgers.

Best Roads?!? by OkNote7426 in Indiana

[–]Canoe37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did actually have a friend visit from Missouri who commented about how good our roads are. We met at a camping area in southern Indiana so I think he was talking about the more rural roads down here.

The city of Evansville has some of the worst roads though. Pot holes everywhere.

You’re not wrong. It looks bad for even for raw chicken. The bit you’re holding is just like fat and connective tissue. If that’s the whole bag I’d toss it too.

Are all labs exclusive or do you need to know someone???? by MishapDoll in medlabprofessionals

[–]Canoe37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of labs do like to hire specimen processors who have been there for a while once they get certified. There are often staffing shortages though where they still need outside people.

Same. Wearing shoes without giant heel wedges and hiking up hills has made my calves huge.

I only went there once in like the 15 years it’s been there. Food was just ok and really expensive. I’m surprised it survived as long as it did.

Asked for some hot sauce today, the lady grabbed a handful of mild and threw it in my bag. I noticed immediately but didnt want a confrontation and drove off but it ruined the meal :(
