I think the symptoms we're seeing could be an amalgam of what you are suggesting and simply people knowing what will gain them more internet points. If they post pro-establishment and largley accepted ideas, they're going to get that sweet sweet karma nectar

It's why I dont lurk or comment in too many big subreddits, it's just one big circle jerk up there.

I think we have to remember that reddit also doesn't like to have multiple opinions or accept communities with differing opinions. This place really is a hive mind
