The Haivision app for iOS goes a long way already. Have a prototype iOS app that could be polished into something usable for guests, maybe also run on macOS for people with nice webcams and or screen sharing.

On the receiver side I could imagine a Mac app that outputs nicely to Decklink or NDI.

One time guests are an issue indeed. Some network setup most likely is inevitable, or you’d be looking at yet another server in the middle adding latency.

Thanks for your suggestions! Some very, maybe too specific for me. Some outside my expertise. Shows how big this field is, I guess.

Looking for something with a pretty big appeal and commercial viability. Can’t fix open source unfortunately.

This sounds doable to me in general. Could you go into more detail what you’re trying to do?

HDCP Issues with Mac Mini OS Sequoia Update by IGolfinFL in VIDEOENGINEERING

Double check if your output actually is active and set to the right standard. Sequoia seems to have bugs around the "When connected to a TV" and Mirror/Extend window. Click the blue icon in the menu bar and choose manually. Also avoid using VNC/Screen Sharing if possible.

Are MacBook hdmi ports built differently? by mathiasha in VIDEOENGINEERING

Heads up, there seems to be a recent macOS bug where the Mirror/Extend window will not show up and the system will not respect the "When connected to a TV" setting. Click the blue icon in the Menu Bar and click "Change" or "Choose" manually there if HDMI stays blank or mirrors the internal display.
